No, just release the e-brake (put down the handle) when you try to slide the rotors off and on. If you don't then the shoes inside will be pressing outward on the rotor and it will be near impossible.

Also, MAKE SURE to pump the brakes and return the pads to the rotor surface before moving the car anywhere... if not you will idle your way right into something!

forgot to add matt, if your old rotors are rusted onto the hubs, just get a rubber mallet and tap on the outside of the rotor couple good taps should loosen it up...to reinstall the pads like u said caliper on first, then lube up to the two pins that hold the brake pads on, makin sure that no extra brake pad grease gets on brake pad lining or rotor....other then that good job on the post man

just a FYI, i followed this partially to begin my REAR rotors and pads and was an idiot and assumed the rear torque spec would be 80ft lbs too. well sure enough i over torqued my caliper bolts and now my caliper is stripped (not the actual bolt, but the caliper themselves). after further research it was suppose to be 40ft lbs for the rear caliper bolts.

now i need to find a way to tap them out or look at possibly thread insert repair kit...

Anyone have any issues where a caliper bolt just doesn't want to loosen? I got the passenger caliper off and rotor changed easily but once I got to the driver side the bottom bolt just doesn't want to turn.

Had to break all bolts loose with a 1/2" breaker bar but for some reason the bottom bolt won't rotate without a stupid amount of force. Got it turn with the breaker bar to a point after several real hard turns but now it doesn't want to move anymore.

Going to try an impact wrench tomorrow but anyone else have this issue?

Yes. Took me a few minutes for me to figure out why the rear rotor didn't pop right off like the fronts. D'oh!

Anyone with a writeup for the rear rotors? Or is the process the same?

Going to do all 4 plus pads next week.

Here's a tip . . . Make sure your parking brake is not on. Ask me how I found this out.

I did one of those head slaps when I saw the rubber plug (I assume the plug is there for adjusting the parking brake without removing rotor) on the rear passenger rotor after tugging unsuccessfully on the rotor for 5 minutes.
