stock boost levels and where you Tee for pressure source
stock boost levels and where you Tee for pressure source
I just installed a Defi BF boost gauge. The install was pretty easy, but I found two ways to TEE for boost readings. http://www.evomoto.com/tech_info.php?techID=13 (TEEing to a fuel pressure regulator solenoid and http://www.collectracecars.com/evo/mechgaugeinstall.htm intake to bov vacuum hose. I'm only reading almost 1.25 bars on my gauge (18psi), stock, TEEed off from the fuel pressure regualtor solenoid.
My questions:
1. Where are you guys TEEing off from?
2. What boost levels do you guys see on your stock car?
I wonder if I should be TEEing off the otherway...(same way I had on my DSM-intake to bov).
Thanks!

My opinion:
If one is going to be more accurate, I would say it is the line immediately off the manifold to the FPR. Depending on where you tap into the other line, it can be far away (relatively) from the manifold, and there are many fittings on that line. Since I ran semi-rigid teflon line of the smallest dia. I could find through the Firewall pass-thru for the ECU wires, the FPR location was also the shortest run of line.
Check that your hose does not have kinks, and if it is cheap thin wall hose, pick up a new hose.

I know this is about seven years to late, but the line from the BOV isn't that accurate I've come to find out. Even though several people I know T off the BOV line. I'm tied into it right now and I keep getting 20 in HG readings on my boost gauge. Which is showing vacume and not pressure. I've been told that to get a true boost reading to T off the FPR line right before the regulator. We shall se how that turns out.
