Modding the recir. button to stay on until pressed?
I'm about to go out and tear the dash apart... Problem is that I'm tired of with every change you make to the air, the recir. kicking off and you get choked out by carbon monoxide. If I push the damn button, I expect it to stay on until I press the damn button again. Anyone else mess with this yet?

that's great... in the summer.
I ripped it all apart yeasterday and it seems I'll have to get an EE involved as it is not a mechanical issue, but one of transistors and the such...

if I'm not mistaken
If I'm not mistaken, the push buttons are all 'computer' controlled...meaning when you press a button, or turn the dial, the computer figures out what to do.
I would love to see an aftermarket guru that's already into reprogramming the computer allow some creature comfort mods. One of which is: I really don't like that the A/C comes on (and doesn't tell you about it) when I kick on the defrost mode. Sometimes I just need a quick blast or air to clean the parabrisa, and not some power sucking A/C unit coming on all the time.

It appears that you can remove a plastic shield on the dial to do that. There is a shield that is connected to the dial that blocks what appears to be an "eye" when you turn the dial to select any of the defrost modes. It makes more sense if you have pulled the unit out and apart. I theorize that removing this "shield" would prevent the unit from "knowing" you have selected this mode. The only down side is that you would always have to manualy hit the compressor button if you wanted it running at the same time. I plan to put it to the test next time I feel like taking it apart (which might be a while). A word of advise... if you attempt to do this, it is much easier to get the cable clips out by dropping the "lower cubby" and pushing up with a pick from the bottom...

that **** is irritating. i would like to know how to keep recirc on also. I usually leave everything off and the dial on max ac so the vent stays closed. That way I don't have to worry about it. If there's a fix, I would love to know though.
I've tried that Zeus. They're still completely garbage even after adjusting them
.
They just have a cheap feel to them. Hell, even the climate controls in my mother's 2001 Civic are higher quality than mine!!
Problem is, it's not just the nobs, it's the whole system

I'm wondering if anyone has completed a swap from another
vehicle... I know there has been talk about swaping auto systems in, but I'd be happy with just a better quality manual system.
Yep. I'm really considering this. If anything, it's worth a shot. I wonder what vehicles climate controls would be a relatively easy swap? Maybe the 2nd gen Eclipse? I]
've had a 1g, but not a 2g. Anyone know?
