ticking after cam install

Hi all,
I had 264/272 cams installed about 1500 miles ago, and was told that the ticking should go away soon. Should it have gone away by now? Does something need adjusted?

Thanks

No the ticking will always be there due to the high profile of the cam lobes . How loud is your ticking? is it very loud or not bad. Cause most evos with aftermarket cams will tick and it is normal. **** I tick and I still have my stock cams in for now.

gunzo: Valve tick thingy? Can't find any mention of it on the forums...

Quickshift: It's pretty loud when it's warming up, then after it's fully warmed up it usually disappears... Your stock cams tick? Wierd...

Yes mine do but not to loud. After a while they stop. I am going with 272's in a couple weeks and they will tick no matter what. I am sure of it.

Arpad .. it's called lash adjuster
Here's the check to ensure it is NOT the lash adjuster ..

1.Check that the noise occurs immediately after the engine is started and noise changes with engine speed
2.after engine has warmed up.. noise becomes smaller or disappear .. then it's the lash adjusters ..

according to the manual .. check engine oil 1st .. if low .. top it up .. too high .. change it ..

otherwise assume it's air .. here's the bleeding process

1. Let engine warm up
with no load do the following ..
rev to 3000rpms gradually ( 3000rpms in 15s) lotsa control here to hit 3000rpms in 15s .. release throttle fully
and then rest at idle for 15s ..
repeat .. for 20-30 times..
run engine idle fo 1-3 mins and check that noise has disappeared..

if it doesn't it may not be air trapped inside. .
