Use a measuring cup to get your mix right. I keep pre-made mixes in 1 gal jugs.

It's a noob question but when your changed your fluid how do you mix your coolant and distilled? I know super noob question but I'm not sure how to get the mix right. I'm here in mississippi so it's probably going to a 60/40 mix as well.

If you don't have a measuring cup or some sort you can always use any household cup. You just have to keep it consistent. If you want a 60/40 mix which is also 3:2, then fill 3 cups of one and pour it into a container and then fill 2 cups of the other and pour it into the same container. Continue to do so until you have enough for your fill. I always keep an extra mix for later use.

What about burping the cooling system? I once took off the top radiator cap on my previous car (Eclipse GSX) and accidentally let air in. After that, I kept seeing air pockets show up in the upper radiator hose. I'd squeeze it, and the air pocket would move over to the fill cap area, and I could then add more coolant. But my squeeze method wasn't good enough. My cabin heater stopped working, so I eventually took the car in to the dealer. The dealer said they just had to "burp" the cooling system. I don't know how they did it, but after that my heater started working again.

Good suggestion, keep it simple. The jug says what temp range it is good to I live in SD and 50/50 fine.

Are you sure it's broken? Give it a good twist - I just bought a used '03 VIII and I found I really needed to twist the knob hard to switch between the hot and cold setting....at first I thought it was broken
