I have seen many sensors die when they are connected directly to the engine. When they were re-installed on the car using the remote mount line they never go bad. Its the same idea as using motor mounts to hold an engine in a car, if the engine was mounted completely solid to the body the vibrations would be ridiculous.

I also have seen heavier autometer oil pressure sensors break off from vibration and drain oil so fast it isn't noticed. At that point its too late and bearing damage may have already taken place.

The remote mount line bypasses both issues.

@ scott first of all please...your just trying to push your product and trust me I LOVE AMS to the death!!!_but i am a certified ASE diesel/auto mechianic and i have NEVER seen a sensor go bad because of vibration, and how can a sensor end break off if it is directly attached to a housing or motor; the entire sensor and motor will be vibrating at the same rate. Its not like the sensor is stationary and the end of it is just vibrating with the motor. Then, I would see worthy cause to get a remote setup, but no my friend i know vibration will NOT damage a sensor. It can infact get damaged when installing because people do not use the recommended torque specs to tighten the sensor and the end can break off because of that, or change their oil at required intervals so nothing can clogg up the small hole for the pressure signal. but never have i seen vibration break off or damage a sensor!

I just received one of these AMS lines and it doesn't seem that long to me well looking at where you mounted it... did you extend it or something ? just curious because Im trying to find a good spot for it as well.. Some good help maybe pics would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks guys..

No extensions were needed. I ran the line from the plug in the oil filter housing (closest to the firewall), along the passenger side frame rail, and up to the sensor as seen in my previous pics in this thread. The line was actually a bit longer than needed, so I made a small loop in it just before the sensor. Sorry, but I don't have any other pics of the installation.

Additionally, I enclosed the braided line in a plastic harness cover. The braided steel line will act like a round file on any surface it rubs against. I recommend that you secure it wherever you route it, rather than letting it flop around.

Also, I note that you have an AMS line. Mine was different (I think Autometer), so maybe the lengths are not the same.
