how to: boost leak test

ok guys so i tried to do a boost leak test on saturday and fail;(
i had some probmlems 1. is i connected the boost tester on the turbo and when i went to put air, the guage did not move at all. Its like when i was pressing air it did not want to go in.
Another thing is i always see people in videos spraying the soapy water by the bov and how is it possible when the whole intake is tooken off because it is originally connected to the turbo. When i did the test i disconnected the air filter, stock intake and all the hoses around it.. i dont think it is right but it doesnt make sense where they will be connected if the tester is conneted at the moment.

boost gauge? maybe because your boost gauge is tapped from the manifold, after the throttle. move the throttle to get a boost reading
I dont like reading vac so I tap my boost before the throttle but I do have a switch if I want to read from the manifold (for some reason)

bov's are normally closed even if you disconnect it. the bov will (be forced) open/leak at 23 psi (guessing). if youre done testing the bov, just install it backwards temporarily if you dont want to hear any hissing from it

it does help a little but this car is modded as well. im just wondering if i have to plug the air intake from the stock engine like with something so air wont go out when im boost leaking.

Like when i remove the intake and plug the boost tester, the intake is going to be off and open since it is not connected should i plug it with something or let in hang and open?

take the intake hose completely off, detach it from the turbo, bov and vent tube.
personally I do not like testing the intake hose pictured in one of the how-tos. first it never really sees boost. second, you'll be sending high pressures up the valve cover vent and possibly blow its seals
