Evo X boost leak test help!

Hey guys my Evo feels disgustingly slow, I suspect I have a boost leak. So ima order a boost leak tester online that connects to the OEM turbo 2.75 inlet. My car is mostly stock just an injen intake w/ UICP and a greddy exhaust for performance mods. It just started to feel really slow after I got it back from the dealership for a transfercase replacement, I feel like they might have left a hose or coupler loose.

Now this is my first ever turbo'd car so I wanna make sure I do things right the first time. Once I hook up the tester to the inlet are there any hose I should disconnect before I begin to pressurize the system? I heard that I'm supposed to open up the oil cap is that true? Also what should I expect when I do this test besides gray smoke for a little bit after the test is done??

(I'm keeping my fingers crossed hoping its a simple boost leak)

Any pointers, help or info is greatly appreciated.

I didn't remove the oil cap and I also didn't have any smoke afterwards. I think they say to take the line off that goes from the intake to the valve cover and plug the port on the valve cover that that line goes too. At least that's what I did and had success.

Ya i heard that too! I know exactly which hose your talkin about. So just unplug that? And what did u use to plug that port? I'm nervous of doing this and messing something up. I won't go past 20 psi I should find a leak with that pressure.

Did u connect yours to the turbo inlet of just to the intake by removing the cone filter?

I removed the intake completely. Then hooked the tester to the turbo inlet. I just used my finger to cover the port. And yeah, 20psi should be enough to find the leaks if there is any

Have a friend spray some soapy water around your connections, it'll help you spot minor leaks around couplers and what-not.

Question

Did any leaks come about from testing? Thanks.
