Overlay mod:
The overlay holds up really good unless you get a cheap Quality or your car sits in sun all day, I'm sure even a good overlay will fade a little then. Mine never faded but I only kept them on for few months then I had sprayed my set.
Painting mod:
As for the painting the lights not so well that fades easy over time. (3-5 months) that's how long it took on my set. I had did 3-4 coats of red and 2 coats of clear per light.
Original Jdm set:
It's bit pricey but worth every penny imo at the end lol

Agree, would be the best way. but I'm not saying it's impossible but however the taillights are way harder to take apart, then the headlights. I Only seen one thread on here that took the taillights apart. If your good with something like that give it a try. Just be careful from ruining a set.
