Any 12volt power source that is turned on by the ignition switch (cig lighter) is suitable to splice into. I've run many gauges in series (one after another) on the same common power source with no ill effect. Also, the ground is pretty simple. All electronics in a car are connected to a common ground, the frame of the car. Find a ground and source it as you own. If that isn't convenient, which I've never not found a common ground, take sand paper or a dremel with a grind wheel, clean off paint, drill a hole in metal, and use a self taping screw to ground any electronic

I had a issue with the Cig lighter get a pigtail Fuse and run it off the fuse box location. Solder and heat shrink all the wires. Get the Pod from a vendor that goes where the radio is or locate a Gruppe-S Panel. Their hard to find but worth it.
