I've heard that three times...but I've also heard of companies selling cams that snap or self destruct. Now, I know 90% of those were installer failure and the other 5% was driver error but there is a margin where quality becomes an issue. Im just wondering who has run the cams and what the long term results have been as well as the reputation of the company.

These actually "feel" better than the HKS's I had. Mainly though, they don't have the valvetrain noise my HKS's had and my P0300 code that I had with the HKS (right after install) is now gone. Super weird but I'm ok with it. If the engine destructs I'll let you know, but a cam rarely contributes to motor failure.....

This year so far (first open weekend) I had a 2.0 sixty foot and a 12.6. If I could hit a damn 1.6 sixty foot I can hit 11's but it's going to have to warm a little. Spinning and wheelhop means bad launches.
Thats bad for transfer case and the trasmission.Wheel hop is a no no.

Yeah I know that's why my sixty foots were so slow. It's called letting off the gas.

I cant start a new thread for some odd reason so here goes.

I installed my HKS RS intake, and GSC 264in/272ex cams last night along with ARP headstuds.

My current mods are now:
GSC 264in/272ex
HKS RS intake
ARP Headstuds
Hallman MBC
Walrbo 255lph
UR high flow cat
RSR 3" exhaust
HKS downpipe
Greddy Type S
ACT Street Clutch

So before the intake and cams I had 286whp and 313wheel torque after my last custom dynoflash. So I did the mail in upgrade option availiable to all custom dynoflash members since i have a busy schedule right now.

So first thing i noticed was the powerband seemed less relyent on boost and smoother. The car seems to spool a little faster but above 4k it becomes a demond almost like you have another turbo spooling. 5th gear pulls like 4th used to and 1st is becomming very short. It feels great pulling to 8k RPM pulling harder and harder, and ever gear pulls.

I'm so happy with the upgrade, I think its the best upgrade I've dont yet and most noticable. Its definatly a new beast! 5th gear is so much fun, usually 5th gear doest not much power but now i can definatly say it pulls.

Overall, There is a noticable increase in midrange and topend, and the powerband seems much smoother and in first gear it feels like the wheels want to break loose. Launching is awesome feels like a spaceship, the G's are insane.

Hopefully I'll get on a dyno to produce some numbers for ya'll i'm working with chris at logic performance to get these numbers for ya'll.

Any questions, or anyone who wants to go for a ride in the North Jersey (wayne area) I'll definatly give you a ride.

Those are very impressive numbers. However what I'd really like to see (and others I think), is a comparison of the same car, same dyno, same conditions with stock cams and GSC cams. Like this one that was done for the HKS brand:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...hlight=hks+264

If you can provide that, and the increase is as good or better, I will be all over these cams.

we are working on a Big test comparing all of our cam durations agains the Stock one. We have to wait for our dyno to go in the ground before we can do it. Should be middle of April before that is done. I will have one compairing 264/264 hks agains our 272/264 cams.

Coolness.

I'm getting close to ordering cams, and in my case I am not doing cam gears at this point. So, I'm torn between 264s i/e or 264 i/272e.

I know there are tons of threads, so I'm in the middle of my search for actual dyno comparisons of straight 264s vs 264i/272e. I've seen the cams vs stock comparisons. For me, it needs to idle very good and have a shot at passing emissions in MA with no cam gears.

I've "heard" that the 264i/272e gives good idle, but more top-end. This makes sense to me with a turbo car, but I've also "heard" that 264i with 272e causes exhaust to re-enter the combustion chamber or otherwise hurt performance to some extent. I think I can't go wrong with straight 264s, but the concept of 264i 272e intrigues me.

Anyway, back to my search for dyno comparisons, and I'll check back here for more updates.

Thanks!

Not required but recommended if your going to rev above stock rev limits.

I was in this same spot a week ago with the exact same thoughts (including emissions). I ended up installing the mixed combo with cam gears. If you don't want the gears, I'd stick with 264s for emissions. The 264/272 might pass emissions but it might not too. Idle quality is good, but not perfect. Also, the difference is neglible unless you are planning on a bigger turbo (which I am).
