How do you take off factory shift knob?

I just got a Momo Carbon Shado shift knob, and I was wondering how do u take off the factory shift knob? Is it glued in? Should I try and heat the glue to take it off? It is not budging, but I don't want to destroy the finish on it by getting some pliers in case I don't like the Momo knob.

Also I got Sparco carbon fiber pedals. It looks like I just drill through the factory ones and put the Sparco ones on, is this true? Can the factory pedals be screwed off?

Ok, this is really difficult, schedule at least a 12 hour install day for this. Ok, ready for it?

UNSCREW IT!

Sorry, couldn't resist. I found this out the first time I test drove an evo, it's knob fell off in my hand (salesman was playing with it).

Good luck.

BTW, mine was very hard to unscrew the first time. Remember lefty loosy.

the shift knob should be twisted its screwed on/off. just twist harder, haha. yeah i changed mine out to Momo, with the black leather/metal to match the steering wheel. i also changed out the racing pedals, for mine you can pop them off the lever, for the clutch and brake, but for the accelerator you can take a look at the back of it, you have to pull in one direction and twist, then it will pop and slide off, be carefull though, it might snap.

ummmmm it says right here in the <insert group here, Ricer, etc> maintenance manual you have to drill a hole through the roof and attach a fixture to hold the knob in place from the ceiling. Then you have to put all 4 wheels on dollies so you and 3 friends can carefully turn your car in a clockwise direction until the shift knob comes off.

Ok, got the knob off, how do u get the shift boot off? Do u have to take the console up to get if off?

It fully extends just a little bit past the end of the screw, and it looks like the ends of it are screwed in but there are no screws to unscrew it with. How did u guys get the shift boot off?

sorry i couldn't resist. to get the boot off you have to take the console out. start by taking the ash tray out, and then pull the console out and as its coming out you will have to disconect the wires that light it up. thats about it

Ok, but I discovered that after I unscrewed the screws by the accelerater under neath that panel there is a screw with no indents to take it out there that holds the lower panel of the console on. How do I loosen these?

Or is the top part of the console (the part with the ashtray) just connected by plastic and it will just pop out? I dont' want to ruin anything by doing this.
