Also, do are NON-HID GSR projectors the same as RS projectors? I heard somewhere that the housings dont have some kind of shield to prevent severe blinding of oncoming traffic by the HIDs. Would I need to get new projectors because of this or are the projectors the same in both HID GSRS and NON HID GSRS and all I would need is the kit?

Moral of the story is.... OEM HID is 3X OEM halogen, Rice lights (6000K) 2X OEM halogen, and halogen is well 1X OEM halogen....
Thanks for the research...it is verified that the higher the kelvin the lower the lumens...thus the lower light output. I think both of y'alls opinions are correct...as I've seen 6000k on regular non-projector style headlamps, and they still show up purple, so don't know if it's just the projector's makin' that color.

Anyhow...for all of us who own base 05 GSR's who want a little better lighting....$450 bones is still easier on the pocket than $1000...the SSL is not worth the extra $$ for the options.

Some just want an inexpensive way to achieve a little better lighting...others will beg to differ, and go JDM or OEM HID, or whichever, but hey, it's their car...

Call it ricey, call it cheap, either way, someone wanted your 2cents, and you gave them a pocket full of pennies...i'm sure all this info will help in his quest for better lighting.

Basically the project causes the 4300K bulb to apear purple through refraction in a (projector only)... The 6000K will look purple to other people along with the driver through a (reflector or projector).... The 4300K will look purple to on commers due to refraction but will look white to the driver and will turn white as the on-comming traffic get closer and closer (projector only).... I like to give alot of info because I'd love to get alot of info if I had the same question. My $1.25 worth of pennies.

P.S. I had a 6000K philips ultinon kit in my 2G eclipse... It was ok.... Much better then halogen, lights up the road nice, also lights up the faces of on-comming traffic and blinded them all to hell.

I hear ya man...all your findings are correct. Higher K = lower lumens.....But there's a good point about non projectors having a light purplish hue on some 6k as well...so it's not necessarily coming from the projectors. Either way...just trying to help a guy out.....

Again, in a projector made for HID, you don't need a 6000k bulb....true......but I think the guy has NON HID projectors in his base 05....so either way, he won't have as clean of a cutoff as your OEM projectors, so maybe he wants a little color.
Just as my retrofit kit will never have the same cutoff as your stock OEM HIDs....Is it an expensive mod to retrofit? Yes....but it's still cheaper than an OEM conversion...I wanna play so I pay....

If I had a choice...I would totally take the stock OEM HIDs without the Sunroof, Leather and big stereo...but too bad Mitsu doesn't make it that way.....so we base GSRs need to improvise...

Good info though, man.

I hope this helps them....cuz we really did give them a bagful.....hahhha.....peace...

I've had a Vision Hid kit on my Si for about a year with no problems. It is the 8k set up and looks awesome. Stuck with the same dilemna as I want an 05 EVO now and can't stand driving without HIDS.
