This is random question .... but today while searching for wallpapers of the evo IX I came across this pic:

It already has a double din and the ac controls are located below ... could we just buy the gen mitsu parts? I think the image is of the UK Evo IX.

It would cost you an arm and a leg, the Japanese and UK Evo's are using the Auto climate control which is electronic, the US version of the HVAC is Mechanical ( has pull cables) and it isn't set and forget
which is why Spoolingevo has gone out of his way to do this conversion, and might I add a very fine job he has done too. just pay him your money, you won't regret it I am sure.

Dont get me wrong ... I wasnt trying to down grade anything he has done .. I just came across this today and wondered. I know a lot of people with the G35 order the JDM dash kits for their double dins and was just wondering if it was the same for the EVO

If it were that easy/inexpensive, we'd have done it by now This kit really is the best option as far as price, etc. for us USA people... we always get the shaft!

Yawp... converting from mechanical to electronic HVAC is not an easy thing to do, at all.

the defi gauges and 2-DIN lcd headunits are optional components that are not included with the base conversion kit.

honestly, i wish it were that easy. the complexity of getting this package together perfectly and efficiently is driving me bananas.

as everyone pointed out, the JDM and UK-Spec EVOs (non-RS models) are equipped with an automatic climate control system and single-DIN electronic HVAC unit (meaning a single-DIN radio relocation kit would suffice in holding the HVAC system). I tried to go a similiar route with the first version of this kit, using a single-DIN manual climate control unit in conjunction with all of the parts you see in the link you posted above. however, this method turned out being extremely expensive to purchase as well as extremely expensive to install.

the kit that i have been working very, very diligently on literally has everything you need to get that 2-DIN interior with our existing manual climate controls (which as everyone knows, measure like 1.5-DIN or something along those lines..) including a proprietary custom lower bezel for those controls.

How much cheaper is it for just the bottom piece?

Is the top piece in yuor kit silver plastic like the original, or is it that bumpy black like the rest of the dash?
