when I installed mine, I didn't press it right away. I took it off by lifting the VG very easy with my bare hands. That's really an ugly gap.
FIX it now...

Mine is oem. here it is, just took pics to give you an idea. It's not painted though, but I'm sure they're all the same.

it appears to me one of the clips that is under the weatherstrip is placeed at the same position where the VG section is under the strip. As I recall there's a small slot on the VG for the clip to be placed and then pull the weatherstrip over it and everything is flush.

So pull it out and check it out.

I have an 03, so no alum. roof panel. I ordered it from http://www.mitsubishiparts.net as everyone here did. Mine sits flush. Just read my thing on top^^^ and it might explain it better. Better yet, just take a picture with it pulled out and we'll figure it out. They all should fit.

I used a heat gun and bent it back to make mine fit flush. You just have to take your time with it so that you dont mess it up.

is your VG OEM? i bought mine from the dealer , a gg vortex generator, for $145, and after i put it on, same thing too, little gap on each end, it doesn't seem to be a perfect fits. And i got the 06 IX too... i tried to push it down move it frw/bkwrd, same thing, so I think they just need to make the VG a little bit wider...

I am in the same situation as some of you are. Bought a white VG from the same OEM dealer (got a REALLY good price on it I thought). Was happy with the price, however, when I installed mine on my IX there were gaps on them too similar to lil'evil_evos. I quickly emailed them back about a week after installing mine and wanted the dealer to investigate what was going on. Pretty helpful bunch of people... the fitment they said was something they never dealt with before (pre IX models). I sent them two pictures of my install just to show them what I was talking about... the guy went to their new car lot and said that some of the new cars also had similar gaps. At that point, I felt a little relieved, but still asked on how to fix it. Finally, the tech guy suggested to use a heat gun to try to mold it in better. Haven't done it yet, but will definitely do once I get the chance... oh well... I guess, the evo don't need to be perfect all the time...
