I have the wind deflector, it definitely quiets the rack down. We just got a ski car so I don't need the rack anymore. It's for sale, incidentally. Look in the forsale section (or check out my other posts) for more details.

I am really interested in seeing some upclose pics of the rakes themselves. They just clip on..correct?! I will just need to rack rails but i am looking for something for an easy on an off to put my surfboards on. I was planning on keeping the Xterra as a beater, but i plan to sell it to invest in real estate. So how do people like them. Is it clip on and off or is it a project?!

Upclose pics with an answer would be prefered if possible! Thanks Guys!

what kind of close up pictures do you want? Let me know and I'll post 'em up. As for it an easy on/off rack, it literally takes 5 minutes to put on/take off.

Sweet, I found the right thread. I was wondering how you'd be able to fit 3 or 4 snowboards on those racks? i would assume two would have to sit on top of one another with the bindings facing up and down.

Does anyone have any pics of this? I'm interested in taking 3-4 boards but worried the snowboard bindings would scratch the roof.

Thanks in advance. By the way, i'm also from Albuquerque, NM =)

Here's a few pictures of mine. I have only taken 2 boards at the most, but I usually turn them upside down when I go, so I imagine you will be able to fit 1-2 more on top, being that the Yakima big powerhounder can hold up to 4 snowboards. If you have any more questions, feel free to PM me. Oh, and which evo are you here in ABQ?

Newb here, I just traded my '04 sti in for a new '06 MR and was trying to get my thule on the roof but the darn 2041 fit kit doesn't work since as you mention the aluminum roof doesn't have mounts. So, what thule fit kit will work then?

i'm pretty sure you need the kit that has the hooks that go into the window sills, like the one on that really popular pic silver grip unit evo on the first page.

Yup, I had a Yakima rack on my evo MR. The feet, which hook under the roof, go on the steel sides of the roof, not the aluminum center, so no worries there. You can use Yakima bars and feet with Thule accessories with no problems.

Thanks for input, though I find it hard to imagine putting thule accessories on round load bars, any input?

I wouldn't put a rack on the evo. But if I bought a rack make mine Yakima. I had on my Grand Cherokee that I had before the evo.

Most Thule accessories are designed for both round and square bars. For instance, my Velovise has a little dip in the clamp that is clearly designed to accomodate a Yakima bar. Thule stuff is great.

You put it on when you need to use it, and take it off the rest of the time. I agree it'd be silly to have it on all the time, but imagine engaging snow mode on the ACD and taking your Evo skiing. That's a pretty awesome ski car right there.
