Okay:
Here is what's going on.
I programmed the remote- the how to has been in the how to since a long time (04)
That was easy. I tried to do the "self" key programming, using my 2 keys, but it didn't take. I went to mitsu this morning, but they were swamped, and it costs 50 bucks for them to even hook up the scan tool. Since I had to make an appointment, i decided that i'll swing back by the locksmith, and see if they can program the key for me.

Funny thing, is that when she cut my key, she didn't even need my key, she just looked up some numbers on her comp, and then she looked at the key, and then she went to a machine in the back, and had my key cut.

I'm guessing that I will need someone( either her), or the dealer to use the scan tool to program my key to the car, I will update today.

as for the remote programming, all you need is a wire, that you can ground, and it literally took me about a minute to do. it's easy.

The immobilizer transponder in the JDM key WILL NOT work in the US. The dealer WILL NOT BE ABLE TO program the JDM immobilizer chip. Simply not compatible...

Here is what you have to do:

1) Get the key cut at any locksmith
2) program the remote part of it using the OBD2 jumper wire method
3) Transplant a US immobilizer chip into the JDM key, and program it to recognize your car using the directions in the owners manual

For the US immobilizer chip,

either disect one of your original keys and extract the transponder, and transplant into the JDM Key.... OR find a random extra key from the dealer and extract it from that. Either way, thats the only way youre gonna get the immobilizer to work. The transponder itself is a small black plastic thing about 1/4 inch long and 10 mm wide. Heres a pic of it:

and in my case, this is what I did to my original key (or any extra key you can find with the same transponder)

That was option 2 for me, i was thinking about it.
It is weird that the transponder for the jdm key is on the far edge of the key, as opposed to actually touching the key...
I have the remote programmed, and i guess i'm willing to try this way.

One final note, the range of the remote on the jdm key is about 2/3 the range of the regular remote.

also, if anyone succesfully had the dealer program the key itself, i'd like to know- I have heard from both sides, some swear you can, some swear you can't...
I didn't feel like spending 60 bucks for them just to "try", and also, I didn't feel like waiting a week for the next available appointment.
also, list your year a model for your evo if you could.
I couldn't get mine programmed the regular way- w/ 2 stock keys. I have an 05 SSL
