Yea, thats pretty normal. I've noticed if you have ever removed your front bumper cover its a bit more pronounced for some reason.

 

Mine is not like that. Mine fits mostly flush.

Mine fit perfect until I took off my bumper to put on my fmic. When I put it back on, the driver's side fit like yours did. I spent forever trying to get it to fit like it did before I took it off, and ended up getting it close to fitting snug again. It had something to do with the snap in clip on the fender not going in all the way.

 

looks exactly like mine, i hate it too. i took my bumper off to install IC pipes and it went on fine w/ no gap. 2nd time i took it off, to remove my headlights, i couldn't get it flush, like when i 1st had the car.

 

Mine sat like that after taking off my front bumper on my VIII, I took it off again and made sure it was clipping in everywhere and it was fine the 2nd time around, my guess is one of the clips arnt in all the way, that was my problem.

Mine looks like that too but I took out the crash bar

 

Needless to say, mess around with it a bit and you should be able to get it back on to the way it came factory.
