Good eye - I swapped during the event, because I bought them from a guy who was there spectating with his Evo. They aren't authentic VII tails, but rather VIII tails that have been modified, so they are much more red, don't have the horizontal stripes, and don't have a pink-ish tint. I was relieved to finally get rid of those damn stock VIII tails but was never willing to spend much money, so this was a perfect situation - swapped mine for his + $50.
It's an 05 MR, but I now have a Shep-built 5spd from his own personal 05, and it has a IX 5th gear, but that has no effect on the drag strip at the moment.

Yeah, I was cornphuzed by the ugly tuner rims on the back of the Teg - don't usually see those in conjunction with slicks and wheelie bars. I don't know what's wrong with the front end, though.
I'm at 3275-3300 race weight (with driver) depending on fuel level. I never run with a full tank and try to keep it below a 1/4, since that's free weight reduction. I'm a pretty big guy, so with clothing and helmet, I'm probably around 250 total, which puts the car at 3025-3050. This is pretty good for a regular street MR, since most aren't that low, but it's not as low as most who are serious about drag racing.
The few things worth mentioning beyond mods that happen to be lighter than stock parts are:
- Rear seatbelts, speakers, and seat cushions removed (cushions only at the track, but the rest is always out)
- Front bumper beam (just did that last week, and it was 16-17lbs or so. Going to do the rear, too)
- Hmm, can't think of anything else. My exhaust (BR TBE) is much lighter than stock as are my coilovers. My FMIC is heavier, but I of course have the spare, tools, and jack removed. The stock MR rims are only 17.74 lbs, so that's nice, but I don't think my aftermarket brakes are much lighter than stock.

New pic that was sent to me:

The key to this one is I had wrist surgery 5 days before this event and was wearing a cast (still am). I have to hold the spoke of the steering wheel with my thumb and forefinger as opposed to wrapping all my fingers around the top of the wheel, hah.

This may sound stupid but your shifting into 5th correct? When I ran I did 111 in 4th and let it rev out to 7500 or so.
I just wasn't sure if the gear ratios were the same on the 05MR compared to my 06MR.

FIC 850s and running around 27psi - tough to do much more at this altitude.
I am not shifting to 5th, although I'm definitely well out of my powerband at the end of the strip. I have an VIII 5spd, so my 4th can go very high. When I still had the 6spd, I was shifting to 5th one very run at altitude due to the powerband being so far to the left. At sea level, you shouldn't be shifting to 5th until you're trapping over 115 in 4th at least. 111 is too low to be worrying about 5th yet. Set your rev limiter at 8k and rev it out. Once you start hitting the rev limiter at 8k before the traps, then consider changing your trans, upgrading the head, or shifting to 5th.
