I'm going to try and see how long I can go without running one...but NJ is pretty strict so eventually I'll need it more likely than not

I think it looks sick man definitly different. Your gonna kill us with the waiting though..lol Im gonna try it in the next few weeks while the car goes in the body shop anyway so Ill post a pick of what you inspired me to do but my do luck lip is off for the winter so I wont get the full effect till spring also. I think it looks like how the 9 bumper should of came
Guys, if anyone else does this to their bumper please don't mix fiberglass and abs. They have different expansions rates an different levels of rigidity. I am a professional painter with certifications. I mainly do work on sportbikes and do almost all of my side business on fairings. I have been plastic welding a while.
Has it been done, yes. But, there are also people that have driven their evo in the snow on summer tires without consequence.
Here are a few tips:
Do NOT get any paint in your weld, it will only make your weld weaker.
Be sure to heat the new plastic being added and the bumper where you add the palstic to fuse it together very good.
Test your panel before you paint it!

So after the plastic welding and the bondo to smooth it out would you recommend putting something else underneath it to give some structure or still the fiberglass? Im going to attempt starting it tonight

after I plastic welded it I fiberglassed the underside and did the top the following day
ohh ok. My bumper has a nice metal piece underneath that I think would support it also because the bumper sits on it as well. So I think the fiberglass and the metal support would be more than enough. Ill post some pics

yeah all evos have that structural support bar there...you'll actually have to modify it slightly to get it to work
I haven't put mine back on yet to know exactly what you need to do
definitely fiberglass the underside...fiberglass adds a lot of rigidity and will take a lot of the stress off the bondo

tru that the bottom support just needs the 2 tabs cut off to fit the 9 grill in it. Also the top of the 9 grill is alot wider so im either gonna see if longer bolts can just hold it in there or if not just tac the 9 grill on the 8 upper bracket. Regardless I hope mine comes out like yours still its not as scary once you start it.lol
