BJ, I would be careful about running redline fluids in the transmission. I had a mix of mt90 and manual transmission fluid in the stock trans for 12k, it would not shift at all and when we opened it up it was caked with metal all around the housing. The trans only had 60k miles also. Just my 2 cents.
Weird...doesn't Shep recommend MT90 for his transmissions?? Someone else I know just recommended MT90 and said it felt great in his trans...When I put the MT90 in it will be the last time I change the drivetrain fluids before swapping a 5 spd in...Thanks for the advice though...I won't be changing the fluids for another month or so...So I guess Ill decide then...
I wonder if they will still recommend it after they have seen what I have seen? Put it this way, it did not look good to me nor the guy building my transmission and he does these all the time.

it was the Fluid cocktail mix the MAP sells. http://www.maperformance.com/redline...smissions.html

I have nvr tried that mix, but from personal experience after trying oem, amsoil, bg, penzoil, and lastly mt90 thru probably 15 oil changes in the past 20k miles, I came to the conclusion that this is what keeps my 5spd happy.I am very **** on how smooth it should be.
Glad u shared ur experience tho, the more feedback we get the better we could narrow down the best!

and so are few of the locals here
when I tried all the fluids or atleast the ones I was more interested in, i wanted the fluid that would give me the smoothest shifts when the car is cold and its 30f outside, and after driving it 50 miles or so. the penzoil felt very smooth when the car is cold, but after warm ups, it just didnt feel like its giving the gears enough lubrication. it felt more like a low viscouse fluid. on the other hand bg felt amazing when its warm, but it sucked while it was cold. and the mt90 felt like it brought the best of both worlds together.
enough hijacking bj's thread
, lets talk about his lil cute shift knob,
any dyno testing on that thing?..lol i was actualy gonna buy one of those few months ago!

Once I throw a built 5 spd in my car I will go with whatever fluid the builder recommends...I have used a couple different brands in my car...Stock, Royal Purple, Amsoil & now BG....My tranny didn't like Amsoil at all...
