AlchEm1st's Evo IV Coupe conversion project
Looks like a nice piece! I wasn't aware that anyone else made crank scrapers for our engines actually. Well, I'm just gonna run with this one for now and if I have an issue I can always swap it out later.
Yeah actually Cosworth makes one for the Evo as well. The place I talked about will pretty much make anything for anything if there's a demand for it, you just tell him what you have and chances are he's probably got a design for it. He makes scrapers for 2jz, rb, sr, different fords, vw, even all kinds of classic cars and stuff. They're made to be run pretty close tolerance wise, and he actually also has teflon bladed scrapers that are designed to contact the moving parts and "bed in". I thought that was overkill in a street car, but they looked pretty cool.
Oh and another thing i dont think I saw, or maybe I missed, what injectors do you plan on running? I saw that you're running an AFPR but didnt see the injectors. Do you plan on running E85? I do personally, so far it's been running great, and i'd imagine thered be plenty of stations down where you live.

Yeah, for a street car I don't need anything too fancy. The Tomei one should do the job just fine for me I think at least for now. Better than stock anyway! I still need to buy injectors and a fuel rail. I'm going to try to get a set of FIC1650's I think. I wouldn't mind running E85; but I need to do some research on it a bit more first. The problem is I want to travel with the car a bit and I need to be able to run 93oct if there's no E85 available. Not sure whether I can switch fuels on the fly with the Evo 5 ECU. I can with dual maps probably, but we'll see.
New video!
Oh sweet, yeah the 1650s would be a great choice. I'm not sure what exactly the Evo ECU can change with it's dual maps, I know on the Evo 8 you can have it run both gas and ethanol (got a buddy who does that). But I wonder with yours. I know you can have two maps, but you'd also need to change the global fuel as well. With my ECMlink I can wire up a toggle switch to change the maps and global, that's what I plan on doing to be able to run gas as well. They make a flex fuel sensor kit as well but I have to run SD to do it and that's not really something I want to do right now.
But good work so far man, I've always wanted to see one of these come together. I actually plan on building an Evo myself someday with an automatic (I'm disabled so it's technically not legal for me to operate a manual)

Yeah, it'll be a bit before I can afford them though. I'm thinking the car won't see the road till next year still sadly. Funds just aren't there to get it done at the moment as my work is closing. I'm starting a new job next Monday though that should help. I've been talking to a few tuners that think we can run a flex sensor to interpolate the fuel maps for E85 content in gasoline; so if we can make that work it'd be incredible! We shall see! Sorry to hear about your disability; but an auto could make for a ridiculous strip build!
Getting it running haha! Still have a long way to go! I've been making good progress on the weekends though. Got the thermostat housing installed (which was a bear to get aligned and I ended up having to buy a tap to repair some of the threads in the head) and also got my power steering pump and AC compressor installed. Had to order a new lower timing cover as mine was broken somehow though; so I'm waiting on that to finish everything timing side and get the accessories perma-mounted.
Thanks man! For sure! The final stages were amazing and the Legend movies are pretty good too! (No Eurobeat though
)
Thanks man! I really can't wait to get the car going! Got the timing cover and accessory idler ordered from STM; so I'm hoping they will be here for next weekend. Got some guys who've never seen it before coming to check it out; so I want to have it as together as possible. I did some dress up work on the valve cover this weekend as well. Pics once it cures! Looks amazing and soooooo clean!
