Pics don't suck, I can tell from them that the point you will run into issues with is at the rear bumper bolt section. I can explain in more detail if you want and I know because I've done all that 'clearancing' before. Flare the top all you want, where you're going to have issue is the rear most section of the quarter and the bumper bolt location. Just trying to help you not run into an issue where you need to hack away at your freshly painted quarters.

In regards to the headlights. Sanding and polishing them works pretty well, but re clearing a plastic headlight make it look brand new. A year or so ago I helped a friend convert his Pontiac GTO into a "Holden Monaro", and we used this trick. I've also done it to a 1997 599 GTB because the guy didn't want to buy new headlights and his looked awful.
