I have the four and my next door neighbor has the Evo 5. I have been trying to figure out a way to bring mine back to the US. Looks like this may be a good option....

Worked on the project some more today.

Pulled the Mirage motor out of the car.

Engine bay needs to be cleaned up.

Figured "why stop at one?" and dropped the Evo engine from the clip today as well. I dropped it from the bottom since the tcase is still bolted up and I'll just use the cherry picker to pick up the entire clip.

Thanks man! I'm still working on it but I'm waiting for a few parts to show up. I'll update with more pics soon.

I'll post up some pics later on but since my last update, I've got the lifters bled, HKS 280 cams installed, the egr port on the head plugged and picked up an Evo 8 flywheel since they're slightly bigger in diameter and my Evo8 comp clutch won't fit my 5 flywheel. Also cleaned up the engine bay and swapped to the bigger Evo5 brake booster (Mirage one is too small for the brembo setup).

I'm waiting on my timing belt and balance shaft belt to come in also, which should be today or tomorrow. If all goes well, I hope to be putting the engine in next weekend.

I've been watching your 2.5rs ---> STi build on NASIOC and congrats on finally getting it running. You hauled *** through that build and it looks bad ***. Everything was done right on that car.

More work done this weekend. I'm waiting on a couple more parts to show up from STM and the engine will be ready to drop in. I'll hopefully have it in, along with the turbo setup by next weekend. I still need to figure out what to do with the subframe. I want to use the Evo5 subframe and modify the steering rack brackets for the LHD rack but we'll see.

New head gasket and ARP head studs, and a new balance shaft belt installed.

Head torqued down with the HKS 280/280 cams.

Head installed along with new timing belt and drive belt. I'll probably bolt the turbo manifold up tomorrow.

preventive maintenance is always a smart move...plus it gives you a glimpse of what the internals look like!

So I was woken up this morning at 3am by two undercover cops ringing and pounding on my door. Apparently a neighbor made a phone call about 2 lowlifes walking around the car and possibly trying to get parts off of it at around 2am. Instead of dropping the engine/trans in today like I had planned, my brother and I spent the day cleaning out the garage and rolling the car in. ****ers will be in for a treat when they come back and see the car gone.

I'm not sure if the would-be thieves were planning on coming back or not, but I didn't want to wait and find out. I was up every 30minutes after 3am checking my driveway lol. I'm still planning on doing the engine swap this week.

Rat Bastards! Glad you got that car inside! You're going to get even MORE attention when that beautiful car is on the road! Make sure it's safe! Good luck!

Hahaha yeah I didn't have much of a choice but to leave it out. I only have a 2 car garage and the wife's car takes up the other spot. They might have been looky loo's but according to the officers, a lot of cars have been getting the wheels and things stolen off their vehicles around my community.
