99 Mirage -----> Evo 5 AWD conversion
It sure helps! ok the mirage harness is the one with the green plastic clip thats lockin the 4 wires in black/orange, red/blue, black, red/white
and the evo fuel pump is the one that plugs into that.
but looking at your evo harness your pin 10 is blank? lol
i think that suppose to be black/blue wire that goes into the black/orange
can you confirm this
and the evo fuel pump is the one that plugs into that.

By the looks of it, and what I seen while in there, the Black/Blue, main power to fuel pump, is NOT in the harness, and was separated. If you want to use the harness, just match them up. Put it in whatever pin you want.
Hey friends,
We're hit a major roadblock. Kenny (former owner) has not provided us with a title! It is going on nearly 5 weeks.
The jist of it is... before the car was shipped to us, Kenny ran into a pipe, cracking the drivers rear taillight. Of course he tells us right after the car ships
. Because of such, he said he would replace it. At that same time, I kept asking for the title. He said he would send it with the lights (jdm lights, so will be easy 2-3 weeks before they even make it to the states). Giving him the benefit of the doubt (car arrove on time) I told him ok, we couldnt work on the car for another week or so anyways. And demanded he send it by the week (19th to 25th) my brother flew in from Cali. He said the lights would get to him by 3rd week of May.
4 weeks since the car arrove (this past Thurs), a package finally shows up. Lights are in there, coilover tools there, Bill of sale there, but NO TITLE! I call him in rage why he DID NOT send the title. He claims it was in there, swears up and down. BS! So then he follows up by saying he will go to DMV and get a copy (ok so its not a scam?). Hours later Im informed the title will take another 2 weeks (bringing the total since paying this f*ck, to 6 weeks!) for a copy to be sent to him before sent to me. Still in rage, my brother and I consult a lawyer for help.
Lawyer states we need to either wait (at least 2 weeks) or demand a refund before there is much he can do (go for adult resolution, instead of sueing). Kennys at a grave loss, as I have proof of sending the check and when he cashed it; and I have the car in my possession. And have a bill of sale stating we bought it. Yet no title in hand. It has seemed my niceness has turned on me and Im not sure how to proceed. There is 2 legalities here: Not providing a title within 30 days, Bill of sale dated over a month ago.
Part of me says he will come through. car is here, lights are here. Ive lost all motivation to do anything to the car. Ive even cancelled the order on the FP Black. We have thousands tied up in this car, parts all over my living room, then this sh*t happens. My brother wasted a trip out here as we couldnt get the car out of storage to my garage to work on it. Or even drive the car he went in half on. Hes REAL pissed.
Ive given Kenny 2 ultimatums: Pay us back with extra for wasting our time, or send me the f*cking title now so we can get going.
What would you do? It sure seems like a scam. I build the car, he claims it stolen, then what? Boom, car gone. We have been quite hasty ordering parts so maybe thats the real deal.
Hes in Brooklyn NY, anyone in that area? (one other thing thats bugging me.. the BOS has one address, the parts that came has another. So I do have exact addresses) I just want the f*cking title to go on my merry way. I could have honestly gave 2 sh*ts about the lights if I knew this was going to happen. We're thinking about booking a flight out to NY. This has got us sad and enraged. We need a beer...

Rich,
I sent you a pm with my number. Call me ASAP. Kenny is lying to you. I have a text screenshot of him asking me if I can get a replacement title because he lost the original. I told him it'd take me a little bit and he said he'd keep searching for it. I assumed he found it when he sold you the car because I never heard back. He had a dealer plate on the car and never registered it.
If this is true, I can get a replacement title since the car would technically still be registered under my name. I don't know if he's stalling and trying to get it titled under his name finally, or he legitimately found the title and lost it...again. I'm assuming he's stalling.
I'd be more than willing to help you out in this situation. I feel bad about the experience you've had with Kenny and I still feel emotionally connected to that car.

Rich sorry to hear about your situation that dude Kenny kinda sure sounds like a liar. Hope something comes up and you can solve thr problem.
Sorry for not updating about my fuel pump problem for quite long because i flew to washington to work for the past two weeks. but i finally get to some testing.
Found out both my fuel pump relay #1 and fuel pump relay #2 is good plus i install new (used from jpp) non burnt fuel pump wire harness on. Seems like none of them was the problem. One of my friends friend diagnosed it and said it CAN be the ecu?
if it was my ecu is it even possible that my car can crank amd stays on for 5sec+?
I dont know but since i ordered a
*new fuel pump (used from jpp)
*new tank leveler unit thats on the opposite side (used from jpp)
i'm going install those during the weekend and see what comes up...

It could be the ecu, but it seems rathers odd that it ran just fine before the AWD conversion. Do you have the feed and return lines plumbed correctly between the transfer pump and the fuel pump side of the tank? And from the fuel tank to the engine? I've also seen cars run temporarily when the feed and return are crossed due to fuel being fed and trying to push past the regulator from the return side.

Oh yes, Sean and I have got it worked out! Title is coming in the mail and shes registered to me. Woohoo! Finally have a temp tag so can start working on her. I hope Kenny reads this. If we ever cross paths again, it WONT be good for him. Now its time for the mods!
So the turbo is back on order. Also ordered up a speed density intake. Thus far, have checked every nut and bolt and found many bolts missing (on the replaced E5 motor). Ordering new ones as we speak. Also got a chance to install UR fender bars, which seem like is necessary for the older Evos.
Car was dropped off at an exhaust shop earlier this week. The Fujitsubo exhaust hung 2" off the ground prior lol. Got that tightened up and swapped the test pipe for a catalytic to pass emissions.
There is a slight clunk when turning hard/quickly on the pass side, and a slight squeal on the drivers (almost sounds like brake pads draggin). Some things to look at this weekend. Will also need to adjust the coilovers. Possible its too low, or the coilover install is shiet. But for the most part, car drives ok for now and can be moved back in forth from storage.
Tom from Tscompusa is tuning the car. Yesterday, I got the ecu rom to him to make adjustments, so this car will pass emissions. As it sits, the motor runs wayyy too rich, and the former tuning was questionable. We have yet to test the Grimmspeed 3 port but hoping the stock map will help that.
Im sooo glad and relieved the title saga is over. I cant thank Sean enough for helping us out on this f*cked situation. Now we can kick back, enjoy our beers, and order more parts lol
Evohuy - Its a small chance its the ecu. Not saying impossible but not likely. Have you tried to jump power directly to the pump? If it works its definitely wiring if you proven the relays are good. I agree with Sean, if it worked before, what changed after the conversion?

I also used a test battery and put power directly to the fuel pump to make sure the pump was putting out fuel. I had the feed and return lines disconnected and a friend pointing them into a bucket so it wouldn't make a mess. Once I verified the pump was good, I jumped the orange wire from the chassis harness to the blue/black wire on the tank harness and it cranked up first try.
Try jumping the fuel pump with power directly and probing the wires from the chassis harness and make sure you're getting 12v to the orange wire. Also verify that the feed and return lines aren't somehow crossed. You only need 3 things to get an engine started. Fuel, spark, and air (compression). Verify you're getting all 3.
Rich, I'm glad you're getting everything squared away with the title and registration. It was my pleasure helping you throughout the process and I'm glad the car is finally in good hands.
Is the clunk you're getting on right turns or left turns? It could be that the car is too low. Evo 5s are really sensitive to ride height as I learned. I was chasing a severe vibration issue and clunk on right turns for months. The clunking was due to sheared front diff bolts (which I fixed already) and the vibration while driving straight and turning right was due to the car being too low. Since the driver side axle is the short axles, the angle is more severe at the joints causing it to bind.

cool sean and rich i cant thank you guys enough for all the time you guys took to help me.
I'll try to update as soon as i can get some work done.
Rich,
Awesome you pulled it through the BS
Now to finish the evo5 and cruise around town lol.

Yeah it's hard to troubleshoot over the internet, but try jumping the pump like Rich said. What I did was I probed all the wires coming from the chassis harness where it connects to the fuel tank harness. I had someone cranking the car over and I looked to see which one was putting out 12v when being cranked. This narrowed it down to the orange wire coming from the fuel pump relay. This also verified that the wiring was correct and the relays were working correctly.

I hear nothing but good things about Tom at Tscomp and he was my first and original choice for tuning the vehicle. I wish I would've went with him and maybe I'd still have the car. Live and learn.

Part of me wishes you went with Tom. I hate when people do their customers wrong. I run multiple businesses and customer service is my strong point. The other part is that now I own her hehe. Find me a V-Spec! LOL
. My offer still stands: When she is done, I will be paying you a visit
I believe its when I turn a 90 degree right, or even a slight left. Im certain its too low. Geometry on these Evos go way out of wack when they are too low. Swore the very first E5 I drove did the same thing. It was slammed to the floor. There was a little vibration at first, but then realized the coilovers were set wayyy too stiff. Once I turned them down, seemed to help ride quality a ton. Makes sense its on right hand turns, esp knowing the drivers axle is soo short. As for the drivers squeal, could be something lodged between the heatshield and rotor. Havent got the wheels off so that is the next bit of work.
. Ive driven it around a little but fear the tuning will cause more damage. Even though Kenny stated he changed all the fluids, I sense another lie. The engine oil is very dark. Heck the coolant is brown lol. This weekend plan to drain everything and refill. I hope Tom has the rom update soon so I can really test her out. So far, every enthusiast that has seen her, ***** bricks lolSadly, FP is backordered on Black's for 3 weeks! Ughhh, killin me here
coolant is brown huh? dam thats like rust from the engine and the rust colored gunk stuff from the bottom hose of the radiator. I had this same problem on my daily when i bought it, the dude said he changed hella crap on the mirage. but i got it home found out motor oil is black as hell, oil filter wasnt all the way tighten causing leak, rusty and clogged radiator hose, NO therma stat!!. car was all in a mess, overheats blown head gasket. but i got it all done for 1k having the head redone, clutch, etc.
But Anyways. I got some work done replace the the unit on the return fuel side of the tank, found out that theres no gas at all on that side of the tank, does that affect anything? because im thinking about just fill that part of the tank up a couple gallons just incase. I also installed the fuel i got from jpp, and another discover! found out the fuel pump and fuel filter that came with the gastank before is not even oem has a super long fuel filter and odd shape on the bottom of the pump (compared it to the oem one from jpp one)
Hope everything works now, but i still have to wait another two days cus i have to find a good glue to seal a slight slit i have on the top of the tank...
Sean,
Yeah I've done that probing test with one of my friends and all the lines are plumbed correctly.
