99 Mirage -----> Evo 5 AWD conversion
Too many 16 yo retards crashing their RHD because they can't handle more than 150hp without instantly feeling the need to see how fast they can kill themselves.
There's is a similar to OP, less complete clip available 1h drive from here, for 4300$ CAN.
http://montreal.kijiji.ca/c-cars-veh...AdIdZ288459178
I'm not buying this one, but availability doesn't seem to be a problem.
Or I can move to Europe and look for a legit 6 TME, or evo 4-5-6.
Don't get me wrong here, I'd probably kill to own any of them, and kill and torture for a TME.
Probably.

Edit : Setting a 6000-7000 $CAN budget seems reasonable to buy a whole one in Japan, and have it specially imported including all parts needed to build the car here, as stated in this thread. Things like the seats, seatbelts, strut towers, trunk pan, etc. Then go to the US buy a cheap but functionning Mirage.

Québec recently changed it's laws to 25 years.

Its the same 25 years old in the US. There was multiple little shops that imported in "show cars" but both E5/6 came in over $25k ea, and chance of getting it taken from DOT is very high. One day I want to import in a real Skyline. Not this R35 crap lol
Rich,
Car is looking good and I can't wait to see what you have in store for it. I need to quit coming onto EvoM lol. Every time I see a picture of the car, it bums me out. I regret selling it but it was necessary for the family. I'm just glad to see it going to good hands

Much along the same lines as what you were doin with the 6262. But Im a suspension type of guy. Hence all the PMs about the sus parts. Family will always come first! I gave up my old '05 E8 as a newborn baby was on the way. Now 7 years later, in a much better financial situation. My wife knows Ive been itchin for something fast for awhile lol. One day you'll be on the trail of a CP9A again. Hope all goes well on your side
As for the car, Ive ripped out the gay *** hid kit that was installed. Yellow headlights? lol, not my cup. Though the yellow fogs are nice. A new 4300k kit is coming.
The uicp needs some adjustment. Ive contemplated getting a new uicp. The placement of the blowoff is not to my liking. Its a 3 piece design (is it Muse?). Prefer a 2 piece with long upper piece.
I hunted down a diagram of the factory boost solenoid, and mounted that tonight (grimmspeed 3 port). Needs to be wired. Next on the list is mounting the boost and wideband gauges in the twin gauge instrument panel insert. Doesnt look like the boost gauge was hooked up after the E5 motor swap.
In misc parts on order: used E9 radiator fan/shroud, mishimoto radiator hoses, cam gear cover, misc allen bolts/screws, royal purple oil filter and 2 sets of fluids for everything. Next after these, going to source all new suspension bushings.
Few other things here and there, then getting tuned. Going to stock tune the engine first then run standard tests (compression, leakdown, boost leak) before ultimately, ordering the FP Black.
In between all this, Im looking for a new house. Mine now has a 1 car that has loowwww ceiling height. I want to find a 2 car with at least 15', so can put in a lift. Then this Winters` build will be cake
hey bro! Im from Montreal and ive build one already. I practiced with the bodypanels on a blue automatic mirage and it looked great

If you want to build one, i recommend you getting a whole front clip. Mistake i did was just getting the EVO 5 hood, fender, bumper and door without the engine. Would cost me 7000$ if i bought the AWD and engine now....But if you buy the whole bundle now( with manual mirage ( 2000$ or less) + 4000 = 6000 and build up yourself and EVO! You get a chance to get closer to your car when you build it. It takes patience, but it changes your life.

For the UICP, it's a Muse stock route pipe for Evo 8 and 9. If I recall correctly, it's 2 pieces. I like the Muse pipe since it's stainless steel and not aluminum. I prefer short route piping, but the brake booster and master cylinder is really close to the throttle body on LHD Evo 4-6, whereas the Evo 8-9 have a lot more room. Custom UICP would be the better way to go. As for the BOV placement, that's where the bov flange for the factory BOV was and it was cut and removed for the Tial flange. I didn't want to locate it to a different location and have to have a hole patched up.
The pillar pod is for a 92-95 civic since they don't make one for the mirage and it's the closest thing that fits. I was originally going to use the cluster pod since I hate pillar pods, but the only way to get the boost gauge to work is to cut the cluster. The brass fitting on the back of the boost gauge hits the gauge cluster and I refused to cut into it. The 280kph cluster is pretty rare since the Evo4-6 clusters only go to 180kph usually. A digital AEM boost gauge would probably work, but I prefer mechanical boost gauges and wanted one that read up to 45psi since I was running 33psi and had plans of going to 40ish psi once I had a built motor to put in.

Yeah I'm not sure about yellow HIDs. That would've been added after I sold it to Kenny. I used standard halogens that came with the clip. I'm not a huge fan of HID lights in non projector housings, but the Evo 5 and 6 have a problem with low light output so HIDs are a common upgrade.

Your right on the Muse, it is 2pc. From the top, it looks like 3pc. If I can find a local guy to build me a 1pc uicp/licp, thats really what I want. And move the tial to the top. I figured there was a reason it was in that location. The licp indeed is 2pc (not Muse as I thought theirs is 1pc). Im guessing he took the licp and put on another. Thatll need to be replaced. If custom is crazy expensive, Ill prob get a new short route kit (either STM, ETS or the like).
Pillar pods never did it for me. So Im going to mount the Boost on the steering column and make a pod for it. In the cluster pod, do the wideband and an egt gauge. I was going to mount the wideband on the column vs the boost, but now glad I know it will be boost instead. Worst case, Ill get a new gauge.
That looks great so far! Post more pics when its done. Do you plan on full Evo conversion?
Yea those HIDs were from Kenny. I agree on the non projectors, somewhat bad cutoff. Not only that, these should have a high drivers side/low pass side cutoff since they were EUDM/JDM. I like em as it does light up the road and signs better.

Sounds good. The LICP is also a Muse. That pipe started off as a 1pc lower pipe but was cut into 2 pieces because of the turbo setup I was running. I was using a ETS equal length manifold with the 6262 so the lower pipe needed to be extended.
When going with an off-the-shelf short route pipe, be careful. The brake master cylinder is really close to the throttle body and most short route kits will end up hitting the brake master cylinder. Muse or Buschur short route kits are the only ones that look even close to being able to fit, but I'm not sure. The best way would be to use a 90 degree coupler off of the throttle body, like what's on there, and then basing the short route kit off of that.

Ahh now it makes sense why the licp is 2pc. All the pics of Muse Ive seen, is 1pc lower, 2pc upper. The lower hangs beyond the frame, so it will definitely need to be replaced. Possible an adjustment could fix it, but rather replace with a true 1pc. Since Im going FP Black, any 1pc licp should work just fine for now, and later.
Off the shelf will definitely be a last resort. I found a local company last night that builds custom piping. If their price is near an off the shelf price, I will definitely go that route. Should be perfect fitment.
In other news, a few parts showed up today! Radiator hoses, E9 stock fan/shroud, cam gear cover, and a JDM E5 cooling plate. I have some time this weekend to get these things on, adjust a few things, and flush all fluids. Planning on getting tuned by Tom (Tscompusa). Also still need to drain the tank and run a few tanks of E85 before then. The last owner only ran 93.
3bar dc2 sorry for the super late update but i couldn't do much after messing with the both the fuel pump relays. ended up ordering a complete evo4/5 fuel tank harness and both units thats on the fuel tank and the fuel pump relay #2 from Saj and install those when it comes in.
Man so it looks like someone has gotten ahold of your evo5 huh thats freaking awesome AND he found you in this forum!
Wang4u if you could be of help can you take a picture of the the fuel pump harness where it connects to the mirage body harness for me? its behind the passenger seat right under the doorsill side step and carpet.

thats great wang4u thank you so much, you and 3bar_dc2 is the only person that can help me out in this forum lol even some dude on here that has a jdm evo 4 or was it e6 hasnt responded to my simple needs. Thanks again, oh and please post pictures of what you're working on on the evo5 too i'm going to need to see that.
Here you go Huy, hope it helps you out..

(if you need detailed pin out, let me know. I started thinking about it when I left. Ill take more pics if nec)
A pic of how the engine bay sits now...

(red/blue wiring is for Grimmspeed)

Only thing Ive installed so far. Just havent had a great deal of time. Did go through every bolt and new ones are coming (a BUNCH of bolts missing.. Trans mount, alternator mount, thermostat housing, cam gear cover etc etc). The Grimmspeed is tucked under where the battery originally was. I think Im going to order the Moroso sealed battery box, relocate it to the back, and run a standard Group 35 battery. Small batts suck, esp here in Colorado.

Lastly, some parts that have arrived!
Mishimoto radiator hoses
Wix filters (decided to go with these till the motor is built)
Case of Valvoline VR1 10w30
Used cam cover (old one cracked and rubbing against gear.. Seriously Kenny??)
Magnaflow universal catalytic converter (just to pass emissions)
Blox magnetic drain plug
OEM crush washers
Used E9 OEM radiator fan/shroud (not pictured)
Used Launsport cooling panel (made it all the way from Japan!)
