Those are the biggest expenses. Add coilovers, wheels, seats and it adds up. If you plan on keeping it relatively stock you can probably get away with spending around 10k.

I changed the rear end to a USDM evo8 setup which wasn't necessary for a stock car but I'm planning on making some power. The full 6262 turbo setup was another unnecessary expense if you're just wanting a stock running evo5 conversion. I probably have another 5k in upgrades from a stock evo5 build. However, since I bought a white mirage and a white front clip I saved a lot of money not having to get paint work done. Since you're going rhd, you'll need a full respray with the firewall swap.

As far as updates go, I had to pull the tcase. My RS front LSD had the dreaded diff bolt issue. All 4 of my diff bolts sheared off and was causing a clunking on right turns. I also have a severe vibration issue I'm trying to fix. I'm hoping this will fix both problems. Just got the tcase reinstalled 2 nights ago ad the rest of the front suspension back on last night. Gonna full up the fluids tomorrow and try to take it out for a cruise. I also plan on redoing my rear driveshaft bracket with one from an evo8.
thanks 3bar.
wouldnt it just be better to get a 1 piece custom driveline made? just send in your yolk and flange.

as far as evo8 rear end.. is it the same final drive as an evo5? stronger?

im good friends with doc race shop and they build quality turbo manifold and intake so i might just pick one up from them.. im only looking for a conservative 350-400 awhp as i know thats alot of power already.

thanks again. post up so video. and im only down the street from ETS and English racing

I think a 1 piece steel driveshaft would be too long. I talked to a driveline shop about getting the rear 2 pieces converted to a 1 piece using my yoke and flange. It was gonna be $450. If it helps at all, it's 45" from the center of the front carrier bearing to the rear diff flange of an evo8 (if you decide to get a custome one made).

The Evo 8 rear end is stronger. The evo 4-6 ayc rear ends are really weak and known for breaking around the 400ft/lbs tq area. Plus, the Evo 8 rear ends are LSD and a lot easier than dealing with a AYC ecu, AYC pump and wiring with lateral sensors. My diff, rear axles, mustache bar, and diff support are all Evo 8. The subframe, hubs, control arms, toe arms, sway bar are all Evo 5. The coilovers are Evo 8 Megan coilovers.

For the turbo manifolds, anything from Evo 4-9 will work. For the power you're wanting, I'd keep the stock intake and turbo manifolds and go with a Evo 9 turbo. I'm using an Evo 5 intake manifold with a JMF map sensor flange since I'm running speed density. I was going to use a Evo 8 intake manifold but the 5 is a lot cleaner with less ports and bolt holes. Evo 4-6 fmic is different from a 7-9 but anything could be made to fit. I've got a ETS Fmic on mine from an Evo 8. If you go with the stock 5 fmic, the holes are already there in the radiator support of the Mirage, they're just not threaded. When I had the 5 fmic on my car, I used riv-nuts to insert threads to the radiator support.

I'm working a few issues out and will get some video soon. I need to get the car tuned since I'm only on a base map. I got the car up to ~10psi on the 6262 just to see how it felt. It felt good. Should scoot with a full tune and 30psi.

You're gonna hate when I say this, but I scrapped the RHD clip. Dash, harness, steering rack, digital climate, etc. I had planned on selling it once I finished my swap, but I had the cops pound on my door at 3AM because a few people were seen in my driveway scoping out the car. That next day, I scrapped the clip and pulled the car into the garage using a floor jack to push it in since it had no front suspension on it

Try to find a complete clip w/ panels if possible. It'll be much cheaper in the end and you'll get every nut, bolt, and bracket you need.
