STM's Project "Ultimate Street Evo?"
remove the cable and all the brake shoes for the rear emergency brakes. The CNC brake ties into the factory brake lines and when applied locks the rear brakes using the rear brake pads instead of the ebrake pads. Holds way better. I would assume the way its hooked up u dont even have to press the ebrake button at all to let the handle down but I am not sure. Very clean and I wish I would have done mine this way

The button is still working. Without it the car would not have an E-brake.

o ok. so you just tap into your rear brake lines and it acts like a line lock for the rear? seems interesting. lets see the weight difference. anything light i do not have i need. haha.

I am pretty sure that is the one we used. I have to stress this again. This is not a bolt in kit and we do not even know how it is going to or if it will work. There are a lot of other parts needed to get this in the car.

I like how the last 2.5 pages of this thread were all about the new e-brake/staging brake! haha...

Thanks for the acknowledgment on the staging brake/e-brake set up Emery. The weight savings from doing this is 12 pounds. I did it probably 4 years ago on the RS. I was able to weld on the actual cable though instead of the cable clamp and loop, although for the average guy that is much easier. You eliminate the cables, brackets, inner brake shoes/springs fasteners. What you end up with is a functioning rear e-brake but it activates the actual disc brake instead. The leverage of the factory e-brake handle and the staging brake isn't going to allow you to do drifts like a long handle/leverage would BUT that wasn't the point of it when I did it. I wanted to eliminate the brake components and drag of the shoe style e-brake but I refused to not have a functioning emergency brake.
Putting together a kit wasn't something I wanted to do, it was an "ace in the hole" for me and I have to have a few of those. Putting together a kit wouldn't be tough, maybe Emery is up for it, I just get a commission! haha

Have to give credit where its due.
For the past, 4-5 years I have just not had an E-brake so I could run small brake kits or just to get rid of the drag. What a pain. I'm glad you thought of this. It will make me feel much better getting out of my car and not having to worry about it rolling away or popping out of gear.

Yes, a few lines and fittings. And only issue is the holding power of it over an extended period of time. Since calipers even new ones can leak pressure over time. For instance, using it as an ebrake over night, it might leak enough pressure through somewhere that it will let the car roll away if not left in gear and if you have a steep driveway. - personal experience using wilwood calipers all the way around.
Damn the ebrake setup em do you or Dave have any info on the new aem ecu ? Any plans to get your hands on one and do some testing ? Put me on the list for a ebrake kit to lol
