I bought some high temp low gloss black spray paint last night
i am gonna hook this up over the weekend and will take pics when its done and write up in the how to section as well. I did do this once before on my IS 300, which was a COMPLETE pain in the *** but TOTALLY worth it.

As long as you have a "white or orange reflector and the light shows orange" you will be ok. once you put other colors on there that is when it becomes illegal. example.. look at german cars.

you dont need to put them in the oven.. just use a heat gun on the clips then all around the head light and gently pry them open, then paint the housing black, red, blue or whatever color you want and then use the heatgun to heat up the glue again and put the headlight back together... simple

and if you wanna be 110% sure they dont leak, use some silicone around the inside edges..

Pitbul, that looks GREAT, exactly what I want to do to my evo headlights

So you just heated the rim with a heat gun and pulled them apart? What paid did you use to paint them? Did you have to prime them?

I put them in the oven at 220 for 10-15 min. I used a low-gloss high temp engine paint i got at pepboys. Very easy , but i was a little nervous putting those $1000 headlights in the oven!

It's too risky to put those headlights in the oven. I'm not gonna do it. But recently, I wrote to GTS and made a request to make a head light cover for our Evo. A smoke and clear head light cover that is. Hopefully, they should notify me on the status.

i've done several pairs and it's fairly easy to do... just get the chrome pieces professionally done (scuffed, painted, and cleared)

I am just going to tape the crome around the bulb area, and paint the outside and it will look just like the MR.

the chrome will most likely come off.. the headlight is a 2 piece design so you can take the back part (the projector and other reflection areas) off without having to tape anything...
