+1, I have to agree...You just lost another cooling surface for the intercooler.

The VIII bumper didn't have "cooling holes" in the bumper.
Its not that big of a deal. Plenty of airflow going through the front bumper regardless.

That's because the VIII front end has a wider area in the front for more air flow, due to the angle of the opening whereas the XI is straighter. Comparison pics:

the hole that is dead center leads me to believe that the bumper he sourced was intended for the IX wagon, as I've seen a lot of them with the plate bracket mounted there.

might wanna fill that too iEvoVII

That's because the VIII intercooler is FULLY exposed! SMH...Look at the comparison photos above...The engineers put them there for a reason.

Either way it's still for street use and won't make any difference having that tiny bit of airflow or not

sorry but no. when on a stock intercooler air passing over the couplers is doing nothing. when on aftermarket the end tank sits in that hole (a non cooling surface). if anything the benefit (aerodynamically and cooling wise) would come from closing the hole and creating a block off that keeps air passing directly through the core and not letting it escape to the left/right between the bumper/core. there will be zero issues doing this.

i also think it has potential to look great.

The holes have no function, the comments are ridiculous... "cooling the IC pipe connector" I'll buy the holes allowing access to the bolts from the outside wrinkle but that can be dealt with.

Unfortunately there is no easy way to melt the urethane bumper plastic together unless you had the same exact 2 materials, and even then the solvent is really nasty stuff.

I was actually considering buying a cheap OE replica in fiberglass that I could work with to do just this.

Best of luck, I love what you have done so far thanks for sharing.
