I have had this car less than a week. How do I resurface or stop this fading from getting worse?

Thanks!

Here's the link to the How-to.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...bon-wings.html

I've actually done this myself and it's really not that hard, just takes some time and elbow grease. You can start out wet sanding like the how-to says, but personally, I was getting almost nowhere with the wet sanding. I ended up dry sanding with an 80 grit sand paper to get the clearcoat off. Carbon fiber is pretty durable stuff and you'll be able to tell a difference once you finally get all the way through the clearcoat. You'll start to see dark grey dust from the resin that holds the CF together.

Same thing is happening to mine and it's spent 98% of its life in the garage but it's a very common problem

I went 600 dry then 1500 wet and then buffed it and sprayed it. Turned out ok. Still not perfect but I am more concerned about protecting it. Probably will have to maintain it every year.

It depends on how many coats of clear you do. I did mine about a year ago so it already went through one winter and still looks just as good as the day I did it. I sanded and buffed like crazy though and did like 8 coats of clear.

I did this to my spoiler but it seems like the clearcoat is fading/peeling again. Going to have to give it a round 2 now...

What type of clearcoat did you use and how long has it been since you did it last? A high quality clear should last almost a lifetime. ....it won't be cheap though.

I used a canned version from a local body supply shop.

Question... When the clear is off, and you are down to the carbon fiber... Will u still see the lighter spots in the carbon fiber from the fading? Will they go away as you sand the carbon fiber lightly as u progress?

Gonna do mine soon I think. Got it masked up and ready but a little chicken to start sanding I guess . Was considering just having a body shop sand and paint flat black, but would rather restore if possible.
