In terms of the LEXAN. I want to use the factory lighting that the controls provide. If my original plan doesnt work ill give this a try.

THe actuators for the mechanical knobs are a little tricky getting plugged back in from their new location but the factory ones works just fine (ill get a pic if you guys want to see that). To hold the unit in there are screws that do it (will get a pic for you).

Just a little background: I moved this down because i have a 7 inch touchscreen in place where my radio and a/c control used to be. I will be doing a post on my finished project in a little bit (Computer install for gps, mp3, radio, phone, and dvd stuff)
Very neat, i was thinking about doing this, but with a 4 or 5 inch lcd screen in the steering wheel. Put about a 100gb hard drive in the car or a just a docking station for a laptop, many possibilities here. Can't wait to see the pics when you are done. Keep up the good work.

Nice job!

I plan on doing the same thing but with a 10" monitor. I may even offer a dash kit for this setup if there is enough interest.

Have you thought about cutting the factory panel? Maybe it can be trimmed to fit that opening.

The factory a/c control section is long gone, they were separeated into the circles anyways...wouldnt have been easy to work with.

How about the guys that make custom gauge face overlays? I saw a post about it somewhere on this forum.

Maybe these guys could help you out. It looks like they make custom gauge overlays, it should be the some process for the climate controls.

Hmm.. I wonder if you can get the OE decals that are semi-transparent and transfer them onto lexan, then mask the areas that aren't supposed to be semitransparent so the light only comes through that section.. you can use thin white plastic sheet, masked and decaled, then thicker lexan over it to protect it.. I've honestly used paints to do this in the past.. paint masks and careful trimming..

I don't exactly get what you meant right there....or where the white came from...LOL

Im beginning to like this route, i have a question though....is there paints that allow light to pass through (i remember a while back when people painted LEDs and it changed their color). What type of paint would let light pass through it (for illumination remember). Thanks for all your ideas

Heck another idea (going away from the factory illumination however), would be to put LEDs to shine onto the panel that way i don't have to worry about making it transparent and crap...idk this will be my last resort.

Hey EVOXTC, did you get anywhere with the cover for the climate controls? I'm dying to do this mod myself.
