I'm looking for an alternative to the orbital kit. It's a good kit but unfortunately it'll be discontinued by the time I'm able to purchase one.

Dorikun, your post was totally pointless and very unhelpful.

I was just confused if you didn't know about the kit or what. Having bought mine for the oem look and still waiting for it to come in, I've actually been thinking about relocating the HVAC system with different toggle switches or possibly a remote control system. I just don't have the time to look into it. The reason that I've considered that is because the HVAC system in the EVO is so out of place no matter where you put it. The best place for it is that spot by the map lights where the sunglasses go. Or behind the dashboard controlled through an infrared beam.

I agree Dorikun. I've been trying to find replacement toggle switches for the HVAC system for my Ralliart (which is the same as your EVO) but i can't find any. If anyone finds anything.. please kindly take a picture and post it.. (with detailed instructions on where to buy.. and how to install of course =D)

I just wanted to move it into the glove box compartment and totally out of the way. I mean it's bay far not a pretty piece. Just curious to know if theres a way to extend those actuator cables to another location?

Thanks

The toggle switches would definitely work if it were an electronic unit, but our controls are manually controlled by cables. In order for that to work, you'll need to wire up a system that uses actuators. The only actuators small enough to fit behind the dash, that I could think of, are RC car servos. They might have enough torque to control the motors without the need for cables and also be wired up to the control unit wirelessly. That could be a solution for me as well but, it'll add a bit of weight and will require a huge amount of work as well as funds. In the end I don't think it'll be worth it. It would be pretty sick though!

You might as well convert your car's current HVAC system to the JDM/EUDM system since it's far less complicated than my way and may save you a bit in the end. All you really need to do is source a crashed Evo IX and get the whole HVAC unit. Best is to verify the parts needed via the service manuals for both USDM and JDM Evos. From there I would just compare the electrical diagrams and HVAC diagrams to figure out the different parts needed.

I'm on a budge so I'm just thinking about extending the cables for now.

timmii,

do you have a picture of the JDM/EUDM HVAC system? I read post about it all the time, but I've never seen a picture of it. Is it a digital climate control, instead of our... analog?

Our's is manual/analog the non-USDM Evos use an electronic/auto climate control unit. The only advantage of having the auto HVAC is the ease of repositioning it as opposed to the manual HVAC units.
