HVAC movement

Ok i moved my A/C controls down below (where many relocate their radios). I need a decal made for the cover plate (like the fan numbers, and vent positions). It needs to be semi-transparent so the light still gets through where it is supposed to.

I planned on putting this "decal" on a thin piece of plexiglass.....does anyone know where i could get this done...or done anyone on here do something like that for reasonable prices.

You got a pic of the install? Id like to see how you did that.
Did you have to use the CD Relocation kit?

You can buy the stock decals from the factory.

You could buy the clear plastic used for overhead projectors and make your own with an ink jet printer. They make special plastic to soak up the ink just right.

Pleas, post pics asap. I have this unit from www.gauge-tech.com that I would like to put in the stock HVAC location under the radio. Did you have to lengthen the cables for the fan motor?

This is what it looks like (without the front plate).

I had to cut the lip off of the lower piece from the cd changer kit. I also had to grind off the like rivets inside that holds the radio brackets and such.

Most definately. The pics look great by the way, keep em coming.

I plan on having a guy that does great stereo installs around here make me a custom dash with the LCD screen below the radio (cf, fiber glass, etc.). The LCD screen is wider than a din panel and taller, great thing is it is only like 1 inch thick so there is no mounting depth problems.

Did you have to lengthen any of the cables on the HVAC unit when you moved it to the bottom location?

Oddly enough, your best option is to get the clear lexan, and have a lexan shop etch the stuff you printed out onto the BACK PORTION of the plastic, you can then fill the etched areas with the colors you want (use paint masks) and then paint the entire back surface black.. Then you can use white or red/amber LED lights or Electroluminescent wire to cast light through the inside of the plastic sheet, the net effect is the etched surfaces will appear to glow.

This is **EXACTLY** What I planned on doing, in fact I want more details on what you did to get the stuff relocated down into that area..

Cool, I was planning on using a LCD Screen for a navigation system/computer (Of course my own Digital Dash software for the UTEC)

I want to know too? How much slack is there? Is there enough room to put the unit in the glove box?

Ok guys:
Wiring was no problem at all...I temporarily placed in in my glove box while doing work on my dash (not long enough to sit straight in the glove box i don't think).
THe actuators for the mechanical knobs are a little tricky getting plugged back in from their new location but the factory ones works just fine (ill get a pic if you guys want to see that). To hold the unit in there are screws that do it (will get a pic for you).

Just a little background: I moved this down because i have a 7 inch touchscreen in place where my radio and a/c control used to be. I will be doing a post on my finished project in a little bit (Computer install for gps, mp3, radio, phone, and dvd stuff)
