FLA_EVO build thread
so I bought my evo a few years ago when I was stationed in SoCal. I bought it completely stock minus a stupid HKS BOV. I immediately ditched the BOV for a IX BOV and put a cat-back exhaust on the car. I rode the car around pretty stock like that for a few months then deployed to Afghanistan. While I was there I saved up quite a bit of money which I used to pay off my evo.
I then put some Rota G-forces on the car, not the optimal wheel and not really sure why I put them on because the OEM BBS are so much better.
I received orders to North Carolina. I drove my evo across the country (no cruise control sucks) After living in North Carolina for a few months I started hanging out with some of the evo guys in the area. I installed FP4R cams on my car and also put a boost controller and walboro 255. I took my car to Forced Performance for a tune, this really woke the car up from the stock evo tune. I drove around like this for quite a while, eventually replacing my stock turbo with a FP HTA71. I liked the turbo, it was great. But I really wanted a "FAST" evo. I deployed again and while I was gone was able to save up more money and buy a daily driver, a 2011 F150 FX4. I put some money in the FX4 lifting it and putting 35" tires, but I still had money set aside for the evo. I bought an FP Red, FIC 1450CC, AEM Fuel Rail, Double Pumper, Doc Racing exhaust mani, ported intake mani, muse short route UICP, TIAL BOV, and a spoolin up COP. I also bought some TE37SLs (I have always wanted these wheels, since before I even owned my evo), and wrapped them in 255/35/18 Dunlop Direzza ZII Star Specs. I also installed some Fortune Auto 500s to help me out during autocross. I bought a homemade radiator pipe from some guy on the forum and a shaved valve cover as well. I sent out my UICP, valve cover, and radiator pipe for powder coating, cost me around $175 for all of it. The car is at Force Fed right now and should be done with the tune by the end of the weekend, going E85 and 93 dual map tune with grimmspeed EBC.
See below for my progress pics, my favorite mods externally are my wheels and the JDM headlights I scored from the forum brand new in the box.
some other various mods I did:
CF Side Spats
JDM Headlights
JDM Side Markers
CF Front Lip
JDM Rear (not installed yet)
Omni map sensor
ETS Small Battery Kit
ETS LICP
ETS 3.5" FMIC (Painted black)
GSC +1MM Valves
Ported Head
ARP Headstuds
Beehive Springs (OEM Retainers :/)
HKS Oil Cap
STM Oil Catch can
