Powdercoat w/clear coat or w/o

Im trying to get insight from people on this. I had some rotas powder coated metallic purple and cleared with pc also. I had to powerball them with a polish every other wash to somewhat keep the shine.

So was it a poor clear job from my powder coater or is this a normal thing when using a pc clear coat?

Im debating powder coating my new wheels but dont want to deal with the swirly/ faded look again.

Would be easier to figure out what happened if you posted pictures of the issue.

Already sold them so i dont have any pics. The clear on the wheels basically did the same as a car. After a couple washes the wheels would look like a black car that never gets buffed. Giving off a very dull looking finish.

Just had my P45R's PC'd w/clear & couldnt be more satisfied. The brake dust cleans off very easy & has a very high gloss after repeated washes

Look good. Im still wondering if it was a poor powder job or the fact that my wheel were dark so small imperfections really show up

most likely the powder wasn't cured all the way and left a rough surface which made them harder to clear

a good quality clear and then use a sealant like cquartz to help protect them from brake dust

the clear should be there for added protection. sounds like it could have not been applied properly or something went wrong during the process.
