I didn't hardwire mine but I did hide the wire very well. I used that little plastic piece in the middle of the defroster vents at the bottom of the windshield. I'll post pics soon. Anyways you can pop out that plastic piece very easily and run the power cord through it and have it come out the bottom of the drivers side dash. I then just moved the wire over and plugged it into the cigarette lighter. Instead of the cord laying over the dash it goes under!! I then just drilled a hole in the plastic piece for the wire to fit through and put the piece back in. It looks perfect and it's still plugged into the cigarette lighter so a simple pull turns it off when it get annoying.

This is how I wired my V1 in also. The whole job should take less than 15 minutes.

For those of you with the sunroof install, which wires are the power/ground wires for the sunroof in the a-pillar?

Ok, nevermind. I figured it out. The wire for the sunroof voltage is the wire that has both red and yellow stripes. For ground, you just attach it to the body somewhere...

In my GSR non SSL I just tapped the dome lights. Took a little investigation with the ohm meter to find a constant ground. Theres always a constant 12v, the switch on the dome lights controls whether a complete circuit is made with the ground.

The first time I soldered it in everything worked great except when I got in to drive and closed the door. X50 turned off. Redid it and now it works great except it is always on. I turn it off at night, but it barely uses any power from the battery anyway.

I hardwired the v1 as well, to the left of the rear view mirror. I'm a noob and it took maybe around 45 mins to do using the fuse tap. Definitely the way to go with radar.

My V1 is above my rear view then I have the wire in the headliner then down the a-pillar to the fuse box.

^^if its above your rear view, wouldn't the little black dots partially block any signal coming in from the front, and reduce the range of the v1?

yes, the black dots would block a signal. i recommend just putting it to the left of the mirror so u can see the signal/readings on the detector. i can see mine pretty clearly and don't feel the need for a secondary display unit.

also, the sunroof wire is ideal just because the sunroof powers off when you turn your car off. you don't have to worry about the detector still being on and draining your battery while the car is off.
