'04 EVO with 34k miles and my one caliper looks like a block of ice! It's like the clear coat lifted right off the red. It looks horrilbe. It started with one tiny spot this spring and now the whole caliper looks like crap. I am still waiting to hear back from the dealer to see if the rep will look at the car.
also there are MANY threads on this subject.

Probably depends on the dealership
My dealer replaced my rear wing when the clearcoat started peeling off the carbon fiber. The whole top was almost brown.
The service manager who I got to know after many trips said that's the sort of thing Mitsu will take care of, but they don't make it public knowledge or issue a recall. Just too costly. Hell, my wing replacement cost them about $3800!
Just be cool about it and talk directly to the service manager instead of his (or her) *****es who don't have authority to order something like that.

oh, man. He's a link from another forum which details how to do it yourself if anyone ever needs to.
Mine sure don't but it'll be handy in the next 5 yrs if the calipers fade

I went in for service about 3 weeks ago on my 06 ix, the mech saw the paint discoloration and ask me if i notice and i told him no. They offered to touch it up for free. Mech told me that it was a common defect and the dealership will touch it up without charge.
