I just got back from my first track session in my bone-stock Evo today, and I also had pretty bad brake fade, although no juddering (at least yet). It's a pretty tight course that isn't easy on brakes, but after a few hard laps the pedal was going to the floor on the longest braking zone, I was braking early and still barely managed to make the turn. One time the front pads were smoking when I came in to the pits. Unfortunately I didn't have any way to bleed the brakes at the track, perhaps that would have helped.

Someone in a WRX suggested using a different brake fluid, and I may try that next week, but the situation really sucks--the rest of the car is unbelievable, but I could only drive hard for one or two laps at a time. I could go down the whole pads/rotors/lines/cooling-ducts garden path, but I thought the brakes were supposed to be really good on this car! (I also did a number on my tires--it's far too tempting to get a little sideways in the turns...)

If anyone finds the "minimal solution" to getting this car to brake, please post!

Thanks!
-Dave

Ok, all silly price posting rules a side, what will a set of Bobcats cost for the Evo? Fronts? Rears? A potiental customer is asking...

ps I need a front set for the wife's Acura Type R calipers also...
Mitsubishi prices

Scroll to the bottom for the Evo.

Matt

edit: soapsuds, sounds like fluid boil to me.

Hey Silver,
When did you find time to run a few laps out there without getting caught in all the rain lately, heh!

The predictablity and catchability is downright unmatched from my experience as well.

My brother and his top sales guy are taking their Evos out to the ranch soon possibly with another evo friend of theirs to get some track time, since for us non members, the next event we are aware of is the Race Craft in August by NASA.

Have you dynoed your Evo yet to see what your making? How stock is your Evo? What tires were you running out at the ranch? Are you going to run at the Race Craft event in August?

The evo's we'll be running out there are already quite modified ( Front Mount, Autronics, Intake, 3" Turbo back no cat, hi flo on the other). It will be fun to see how a few more ponies help out. Plus my friend is waiting to go out there before he puts his HKS coil overs on to do baseline comparisions against the coil overs. He is getting impatient and wants to put them on immedietly though. Yesterday we were up in Trophy Club and I took him and his friend for a spirited drive in some twisty back roads. They felt we were airborne at about 130mph over a crest into a drop off before a tight 3rd gear left hander, but from the drivers seat, if we were it was the most connected feeling lift off ever. His is running 1.45 bar right now and it pulls to redline well. I did drive his thoroughly stock and now there is a considerable difference, but plenty stock for a primarily daily driven car. I can't wait to get it out at the ranch, but wanted to run a stock one out there as well, since I am looking for a nice sedan I can commute in and if I wanted (and grabbed a memebership out there) could stop by and run a session or two if I'm nearby and it's not booked.

Yes, https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...t=mustang+dyno

The car was completely stock accept a K&N stock replacement filter and a Greddy type-S blow off valve, these mods are good for 6-7 WHP. I also had the suspension aligned adding as much front negative camber as I could get (1.5 degrees). I was able to run consistent mid to low 1:29's (track timing system) with essentially a bone stock car. I have test pipe installed now, dyno tested for about 10WHP, I also have a full 3" RMR system comming in next week. I am currently holding out for the PFC regarding engine management, they are currently testing with the EVO8, hopefully we will know something very soon.
I met a really nice guy (Pete) at MSR the week before, he had a Yellow EVO with Hoosier's, and the full RMR exhaust, he let me drive his car to check out the exhaust. That's why I have one comming next week.
I am alway's happy to take people to MSR as my guest, sometimes I am the only car on the track, it gets boring. Send me a PM with contact info, I will start posting in the South forum next time I am going to the track, possibly next weekend.

Regards,

Eric
