Performance Friction CarbonMetallic pads for like 30 bucks an axle at AutoZone, but with comparable performance to Hawk HPS, and Brembo blanks for a little over 30 bucks a piece at the Tire Rack. Combine it with Goodridge SS lines and a good DOT 4 fluid for the all-around solution!

^ it doesn't really matter. If you put them like this ( / ) facing forward, you might get slightly more wear on your pads than the other way around, but I have not seen proof that one is better than the other. Usually on rotors like the slotted Stoptech rotors, they end up being directional because of the internal vanes, not because of the slotted outer face.

I had the same question. I am used to seeing the slots facing forward from bottom to top, but the way the boxes were marked from rotorpros had them facing toward the rear.

Brembo recommends the outer edge of the slots(being away from the hub) touch the brake pads first. The inner part of the slot(nearest the center of the wheel) touch the brake pads last, when wheel is in forward motion. Like this / . But it only matters if your ventilation are directional.

HPS pads (150-180 depending on vendor)

I use this combo on the street and for AX events.

EDIT: Ill add - the AutoZone specials are down right scary. I tuned someones car once and 3 pulls worth of driving there were NO braking ablities left. Not fun to drive.
hey mike remember that was my car lol

Went to autozone looking for the Performance Friction Carbon Metallic pads for the EVO 9 and they don't sell em (they do sell them for other cars though) - doesn't show up in the list.

Got the part number?

They do have Duralast Gold's though.
