1.0g skidpad what does it take?
ok be kind...just wondering according to R&T the IX RS did .87g on their skidpad. What kind of mods would make the IX track 1.0g? Without spending thousands or running slicks....

It's anything that is going to generate more grip. Wider wheels and wider tires help significantly, but tires most of all. Lowering springs or coilovers with stiffer rear springs would also help. Stiffening up the rear helps as well.
I just went to an 18x8.5 inch wheel with 255/35/18 tires and I definitely notice a difference in grip. Car just feels more planted. Although, the tires are not as grippy, so they seem to break away sooner - better tires would fix that. Bottom line is that although tires are freakin' expensive and don't seem to last long, its the price you pay to get ultimate grip. Hope that helps.

Tires are the easiest way to get it to do that.... Get an alignment with a couple degrees negative camber and set the toe to zero, rear trailing arm bushings with a rear sway bar help a great deal as well. That alone done on stock tires you will definitely be over 1g. I'm on full coilovers with the alignment set at -3 degrees camber in the front with zero toe and i have the rear sway bar and bushings. With 300 treadwear sumitomo street tires I would be willing to bet that my car is still over 1g cornering with rock hard tires. I just have no way of testing it.
