Amazon has Monroe pads for $37 minus a $20 rebate for front pads on the Evo. I cannot find any performance data, but at this price some people might want them as an "spare set."
Search for dx1001 or cx1001.

I sell Monroe pads at my job, let me tell you, the CX1001's are not bad at all on a decent car like a Mercedes or BMW considering they also come with the lubricant and wire wear sensors. Plus they are ceramic's. On a Evo, I was a bit hesitant and then got Hawk HPS for $80 through my job.

Might be worth looking into as a daily driving set. Cheap and safe as long as you know that they probably wont perform at the limits like good street pads. I have raybestos pads in for my commute to work. They work fine since i'm realistic on their capabilities. I use a slightly more aggressive than stock pad for the fun stuff. That being said, I should uh,..sell my evo?

These pads have about half the bite of the OEM pad. So, the pedal effort is about doubled for the same amount of stopping. Or, you can do the General Motors stop where you hit the brakes about half a block away from the stop sign. Push down more and there is good modulation and they will lock up if needed so no safety issues. Still the extra effort makes the car less nimble. In a high speed stop you will get transfer to the rotor. This will make the steering wheel vibrate for a few miles but it goes away.
