I just install some swifts on the Ix. Now, every time i make a full left turn I hear a clunk like something didn't sit correct. However the spring is sitting correctly on the top hat and perch. I am only noticing the clunk on the drivers side...
Anyone got any Ideas?? I had the GF turn the car and didn't see anything abnormal. i have yet to get the car aligned as I only finished them last night.

the guy I got my car from put the spring on upside down. on the hat and perch right but clunked while turning and going over bumps. something is loose or the spring is not on correctly

I just installed mine and one didn't end up sitting in the perch correctly so I was getting some weird noises. I just jacked it up and spun the spring until it sat in the perch.

Did you align the holes on the upper hat and lower perch? There is one hole in each on the hat and perch they are supposed to be aligned top to bottom with the shaft or the spring will not sit correctly in the hat.

What happens if you don't align the holes and reinstall? The spring just doesn't sit completely right? Consequences?
the whole didnt align on the passanger side and i dont get that clunk i removed it and just turned the top hat and finished reinstalling. i havent gone for a drive, i will be back i'm going to go get the spring compressors again from the Z.. and align the holes.

It will not sit in the pockets properly and possibly produce the noises described.
Take your time when you tighten the shaft nuts. When you go to torque the nut it will rotate the hat so you might need to clock the hat ahead so when you reach the final torque the holes align.

Yep, verify the install and make sure eye holes are right.
i turned the top hat so that the 3 bolts shift 1 hole. The mistake i made was not marking the 3 14mm bolts on top, I guess i just got lucky on the passenger side and it went in the same it came off, however not true with the driver side thus creating the noise "clunk" issue.
and the ride quality is freaking great!!! This is how the evo should have came out of the box.
I want to thank ebay for the cheap $$ swifts, and you guys for the help. Now i need to look for some bilsteins haha

I would like to know this too. I have the same clunking, but it only showed up after I switched to the less negative camber setting.Originally Posted by funks
does the top hat actually have a mark on it pointing outwards?
