Ferodo DS2500 Brake Pads

Just put these on. Previous owner has these on the car. So i figured ill just go ahead and put the same thing back on.

Question is..

Should i have Put Lube/Grease on the pads. These things Squeak pretty badly and it kind of getting annoying. I know when i come to a hard stop there is no problem.

I know i could have searched. But i have been a member for over a year and havent posted once because i have always searched for any question i had. But I figured its time i make a post. So please dont tell me to Search.

Thanks,
Mike.

Already did the Break in period. I think it was something like 20 stops with half break pressure and then 20 hard stops from different speeds. It was a couple weeks back. Car was in the shop getting the truck lid shaved.

What would happens if you dont do the proper break in period. Can is really mess the pads up that bad?

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
They will eventually wear in. Bedding puts down a fresh layer of pad material on the rotor, as-well-as, do the final burnishing on the pads.

I didn't use any lube/grease or shims when I changed out my pads and rotors lastweek and it seems to be fine, no noise or anything. I used RacingBrake ET500 pads.

High temp anti-seize on the shims will reduce noise. I routinely get light squeaking from the DS2500s when cold because my car sits about two weeks between drives. Once they warm up a little, it goes away.

So i went to put some anti-seize on. AND i have no clue where my key for my lugs is. So now i have to send out my registration to McGard. Hopefully this take doesnt to long to get a new one.

Take them off, clean them up. Spray a thick coat on and let dry. You'll be golden after that. It's what I use on all my cars and customers cars.

Spray on the entire pad. Or just the back of the pad, like you would put the anti-seize on??

Thanks for the help guys

I have the same problem as you, I have a lot of squeal from my pads.. I am thinking that it's just cold out.

Off topic but maybe someone can relate/answer this question, after not driving my car for a few days my brake pads seem to freeze/lock up a bit upon first acceleration. Once I drive off it seems fine. Anyone know why this happens?

I don't know why, but mine do it too. Sometimes it's a pretty violent/loud popping.

I'm sorry, I should have been more clear. You don't want to get that stuff on the friction surface of the pad. You only want to spray it on the back of the pad. The part that doesn't touch the rotor.
