Coilovers or New struts and springs?

Hello Evolution I need your input. I have recently picked up an 03 TB Evo but after looking her over I have descoverd Im riding on the bump stops on the front end and the struts are dead. I have decided that if im going to replace the front I might as well do the back too and have it done right. I have been surfing around here and I have talked to my local shop but im still not sure what I should do. I have been considering 3 options and my budget is $1000- $1500

1) buy MR Bilstein Struts all round with swift springs

2) Buy Coilovers

3) your advice

Driving type: Daily driver with occasional spirited driving
Tires: High performance all season, BF Goodrich g-Force Super Sport A/S
Goal: Im looking to get a sporty set up that is responsive enough to feel stable and flat in the corners but can take the bumps and the crapy roads around here. ( Im not looking to have track like handling.... yet )

Thanks hope you can help

Are GTWorx springs not better than swifts?

I'm in the same boat minus the riding on bump stops part and wanting to do light trackdays and auto-x

Swifts, GTWorx, and RobiSpec are the ones that I recommend. Swifts do not ride on the bump stops.

Thanks for the input everyone. What advice could you give me for purchasing used Bilstein Struts. Are there any clues I can look for on used struts that would indicate they have been beat on or have problems? Can struts be repaired?

Yeah, this is a tough one. Everyone comes in and recommends the Bilstein combo but the Bilstein's aren't available.

guess i am going to get slayed for making this comment but i purchased a set of buddy club racing coilovers and i think they are great for everday driving and hard driving. Probably not the best as far as true track days but I thought a huge improvement over my existing setup. Want to say they were around $1300 or so.

AMS used them on there early time attack setup and I went with the same setup.

Let the flaming begin...... lol

You can get some stock KYB's for next to nothing they won't ride as well as the Bilsteins but they will handle better. PM me.

What makes you believe that the KYB's will handle better than the Bilsteins? A harsher stiffer ride doesnt necessarily equate to better handling.

He's probably just marketing the set he's got for sale. I, also, vote for the bilsteing/swift combo. If there aren't any bilstein hd's in stock, just browse the classifieds for mr struts.
