Okay, just got done with a new alignment from Robi to straighten out some aggressive camber from the previous owner/alignment. All cornerweighting and alignment specs were still dead on from previous alignment from 12000k miles ago. Just to show you how good work will always last. The clicking noise seemed to be from the passener front ball joint being a little undergreased. Rob took the boot or cover off the whiteline ball joint and noticed it was dry but couldn't really determine if that was causing any clunk. He said clunking or a popping noise is usually caused by a bad ball joint. He regreased the passenger side and checked the driver side which was fine. The noise has gone away and hopefully he has solved my issue. All nuts were retightened of course but none were loose. If the the problem persists we worked out an agreement to replace the ball joint for a reduced labor charge for the install as well as if whiteline warranties a new ball joint for free of cost. For those looking for an honest service and suspension work performed by a thorough meticulous technician, Robi is the guy. Very friendly and informative! I only allow the best to work on my pride and joy. Thanks Rob, will see you in the near future.

ok, how about this, I installed my Whiteline front endlinks last night. The stock ones, despite being impossible to get off with hand tools, looked to be in perfect shape. The car was up on jackstands, and nothing else was really touched except the endlinks, the oil filter (removed to get clearance for the impact gun) and the swaybar twisted a few times.

Driving home from my garage, roughly 2-3 miles it seemed as if the clunking totally stopped. The car was finally silent.

Upon getting in and driving today, the clunking returned to normal. It sounds like it's directly under my left foot, and also clunks significantly more while turning left. I'll check the front swaybar brackets and bushings tomorrow....

I have Bilstein PSS9s, Whiteline RCK (installed by Robi), rear Robi bar, and waiting on rear Perrin Endlinks to be shipped atm.

any followup on this?

My 06 has developed the minor 'clunk' in the right front over speedbumps and any situation that rapidly loads/unloads that wheel. Started about a week ago, oh well. It's an Evo, time to start digging.....

06, 24k.... On my stock pillow ball joints I heard a very loud "clunking noise" , after replacing the pillow ball joints, end links, and alignment (stock specs) the clunk has vanished , but I now hear small popping while turning left? lol

looks like it's coming from my strut mounts. The driver's side is clunking significantly more,I had the option of buying camber plates, but I decided to just purchase an OEM replacement for now...

I'll let you know how it works out.

Well, I think its safe to say I have the "clunk" in the front end now! Mine mostly occurs when i am pulling out of my driveway. My driveway is on a hill and as I am backing out and getting the car off of the drive onto the flat road, I hear this clunk from the front right. Once I take it out of revers and into first and began to roll, something clunks again from the same area.

Its like something is forced out of alignment pulling out of the drive and as soon as I begin to move forward it sets back in place!

I dont think it would be anything with the struts. I am gonna check it out tomorrow hopefully, see what I can find.

Just picked up an 03, and I seem to have the same problem as everyone else. Whenever I turn left, and only left, the car pops and clunks from the passenger side front. I checked for anything loose when I was changing all the fluids in the car, and everything was tight. The front right tire seems to be wearing differently than the rest of the tires. I am going to take the car in for an alignment, and have them look at the ball joints and such. I will let you guys know if I figure out the culprit.

I was sent the wrong strut mounts. They sent me mounts for a Lancer, I had the time so I decided to try to get some work done anyway.

The driver's side as clunking, so I took out the whole PSS9 coilover, disassembled and cleaned the top perch. When I reinstalled the assembly, I tightened the strut shaft nut as much as possible with my cordless impact. I noticed that there were about 7 threads showing, as opposed to the passenger side, which I did not touch yet and showed about 5. This seemed to be a major cause of the clunking as I really have not heard any sounds at all in the past 2 weeks.

Tighten those top nuts! I hope this helps and I remain clunk free!

I seem to have found a solution to my clunking noise. The noise was a loud clunking from the passenger side front. Generally speaking the noise would only occur when turning left, and it did it every time. I bought some tein H-tech lowering springs and recently installed them on my car. Immediately after I installed them, the noise disappeared. I have done everything I can think of to get the car to make the noise, and have been unable to recreate it.

My car has 74k miles and the person I bought it from said it has been doing it since he bought the car off the showroom floor. I hope that this will help others out, I certainly found the clunking annoying!

The noise has disappered permanently, I noticed that the front right spring looks as if it were binding up. There were several marks on the springs that looked like the springs had been hitting each other.

I tried several of the fixes suggested in the MANY pages in this thread to cure the LOUD crunching/popping noise I was getting over low speed bumps. After checking the bushings, end links, etc, and lubing the springs at the top and bottom perches with no success, I tightening the two lower cross bars and that did the trick! Seems awfully simple, but if you are getting annoying suspension creaking, this just may be the fix.
