Rear control arm/trailing arm ball joints

If memory serves, there are 3 per side. Assuming one can buy the ball joints separately from the control arms, what are the options?

I'm hoping more than NAPA and Auto Zone. Is it a dealer/e-retailer item?

Also, any help with part #'s would be greatly appreciated!

negative ghostrider...

Per mitsu, balljoints are not sold separately I think that the only choice for fronts is the whiteline rollcenter and for rear are new or used control arms.

Now, I think if someone took the trouble of researching it, I bet moog or someone has a balljoint that will work. Need to get the old one pushed on and measured and compared against some sites that sell them.

Same applies for the joints in the control arms that are not replaced by bushing sets like whiteline.

For those, you could find heim joints that do the same. More noise and quicker wear, but I bet you could find some that work.

I always wondered what hardcore evo racers have done for control arms and such.

I know that nagisa makes some expensive arms, but I know Robispec bent it and would not recommend it.

OK, I am done blabbering, but hope this helps!

Curious...why do you ask about the rear joints?

On the front control arm, everything bushing wise is upgradable - You can do whiteline rollcenter to replace balljoint, whiteline bushing to replace the stock bushing on the arm and a Perrin PSRS to replace the caster bushing.

So, only the rear arms need options for a balljoint and I suppose that is his train of thought, unless he fugged up a rear one or something...

I was asking because it seems odd to have options for every wear item on the front, but not on the rear. I'm putting in new COs so I'm taking the opportunity to refresh all associated bushings, and was hoping ball joints.
The car is full track duty so I don't mind investing some dollars into preventive maintenance.

I'm still up for ideas!

If you are full track duty, contact some race shops and ask them what they would suggest. I know I ran into a shop from Kansas City area during a SCCA race and in talking to him about his CRX - he said he replaced all his factory heim joints with aftermarket ones from some catalog. I suppose you could do that too. There are 2 on the lower arm of the Evo where the rear strut attaches to it.

But, to address the original question - that still leaves 2 balljoints on each side in the rear - one for the "bump steer" arm and the upper arm.

If you have the time and energy, I would still suggest "pushing" out a factory balljoint and finding a place that manufactures one that is identical.

I don't think it will differ that much from the 2g and 3g IMHO. I know you can find balljoints for them on rockauto etc...
