Tanabe springs vs. Tein S-Techs

I am torn between the two and it's c-mas time so I need to decide. I know the tein's drop it a little more in the front, but the real question is which one has the equal wheel gap and stays true to the evo by handling great. I don't want to loose the bad *** cornering but don't want the ride to get any bumpier (daily driver). I have been here since they came out and searched but just want to hear owners opinions between the two, some more pics would be nice, also with 18's since that's the eventual plan.

Everyone I know who has the Tein S. Techs was impressed with the look and ride. If you do a search, there's a few people who posted pics of the Teins. Tanabe, can't speak for them.

I say go for Tanabes...I dont want 1.1" more of a drop in the front than the back but Tein's definitely look nice and has a good ride quality. Anyone have Tanabe's care to share thoughts??

how's the ride quality of the Tanabe drop? How much did you get them for? I got a quoted price of $170 shipped.

The reason for the difference in drop "s is to even out the fender, so both fenders sit evenly over your rims......

Which then, messes up the car's balance.

I guess it depends on what you wanted the car for.

Tanabe's all the way. The drop is perfect 1.5 in front 1 in back. I'm not sure what the drop is on the Tein's. The ride is definitely a little more rough than stock. $170 shipped for the tanabe's is a great price, get em'.

On the other hand, a stock Evo's weight distribution is at F60/R40, so in reality, it is already out of balance..........

Drop is 2'' in front, .9'' in rear.

Explain to me how having a 60/40 front end bias affects it's handling balance?

BMW's usually have close to 50/50 weight balance. Do you consider the Evo to handle worse than an M3?

While a 50/50 weight distribution would be ideal, you can work around that. It's called suspension setup. Something, judging by all the handling accolades the Evo has garnered, the factory knows quite well.

By jacking up the rear (the effect of lowering the front end more than the rear), you're inducing more weight transfer to the rear upon acceleration. Can you say power understeer?? Then again, if you're only into going fast in a straight line, this might be what you're looking for. Notice how all the drag cars usually have the raked look to them?

Ok, then.
Yes I agree lowering WILL effect the balance, if you say 60/40 is in balance, its not perfect balance, acording to mitsu specs its at its best to perform, not perfect.(in your origanal statement on how it will throw off the balance ), 50/50 is as you said the M3 is That is perfect balance, both sides being =.

But I do not consider the Evo to handle "worse" than the BMW, I do think that lowering it 2 in front and 1 in rear will affect it somewhat, but when driving it after I installed the springs it handles BETTER in the curves. Explain that.....
And the 60/40 is stock, and im sure Mitsu did a lot of research and devlopment on this.

Thats the best explanation I got.

And to be honest, the car handles better now due to the lower center of gravity.

SO your origanal statement of "Which then, messes up the car's balance." is correct in #'s but not in driving. And two " I guess it depends on what you wanted the car for. " is correct , I want the car to look better, and handle better, and thats what I got . So my question to you is, do you disregarde that statement of it handles better now? And no my car is not a straight line car.........
