Hit a big pothole on the Highway

I was on my way home from hanging out with some friends. It was dark, and the road had just recently been opened up due to road construction.

As I was cruising @ about 60, the road looked like it dipped alittle, but there was a big pothole that came out of no where. I drove right into it, and there was very loud, scary thud.

After that, I noticed that there was a slight shaking. It feels like it is coming from the rear. My passenger felt that it was no big deal, but I could feel the shaking, and its bothering me. Its too dark to really check under the car, but from a quick visual glance, everything looks fine.

Does anyone have any experiences with bending the stock rim? Do they bend easily?

Is there anything else I should be checking out? Is it a possibilty that the suspension could have gotten messed up?
The car drives straight still. I plan to check the balance of the wheel tomorrow.

Just looking for any other ideas on what to check. TIA.

Ken

Sounds like you knocked it out of alignment. I kinda doubt that you would have bent a wheel off of that, but nothings for sure.

I'd take it to a wheel shop and have them check the alignment. They'll either fix it and rebalance the wheels or tell you that its screwed

Good luck

yep..tell me about it.

The messed up part is that it was probably the only pothole in a 4 laner...and I just happend to be in the WRONG lane.

Its pissing me off.

I honestly hope its just needs a balancing wieght, or alignment.

Any other ideas are welcomed!

Check not only if the outside of one of the wheels is bent but pull the wheel and check the inside edge of the wheel(s).
