softer springs
softer springs
what brand and type of spring will make the evo ride softer, kinda like the sti? I have back problems and love the evo, but need a more forgiving ride.
the only thing you can really use are coilovers, springs in general lower your car giving it a worse/stiffer ride. you'll be able to control the stiffness of your ride if you got full coilovers though.
but if u've had back problems prior to owning an evo, i think u made a bad choice in cars. sorry to hear about your problems tho

Before having the Tein Flexes, I had the Tein Stechs lowering springs, ride was very good, much better that stock, not bouncy and even my wife noticed the change, let alone the new look of the car.

I had Cusco Zero-2R's on my WRX and loved them. I had a 8K/5k set-up (7/5 "stock") with spare 7&6k fronts and 4k rears. When I went on an extended highway drive I'd set them on 1 (out of 5) and it was almost plush. I always meant to drop down to a 6/4 setup (lowest recommended rates) for a better road ride ride (read the wife
) and a little more flexibility with the dampening from 1-5 but I never got around to it (I was too pleased with the handeling as it was and didn't want to screw it up). i'd bet with a 6/4 set-up it's be a soft or softer than stock on "1", but you'd have the ability to firm it up when you wanted to.

yea i'm having back problems too because of the evo. I have to go to a chiropractor 3 times a week for back therapy. The doctor said i might have shattered one of my lower spinal disc.

It took me a while to really tweak the ride heights to get optimum balance, but in the end, it is about as good as it gets, frankly.
I seriously doubt that any coilover, however, is going to soften ride up more than stock. Getting rid of flexible strut mounts is not something you do for comfort purposes
